GSX Config for 1011 II, Looking for Better

Print Post
I really have no idea what I'm doing, but blundered around for two days and came up with this:

This works, although I haven't figured out how to get the fuel truck to work. It positions where I imagine it should be, but nags to use the airplane's fueler (which I am assuming is the Fuel and Passengers App, but I think it's looking for something else). Anyway, avoid the fuel truck by (1) NOT beginning with Boarding or Deboarding, which will trigger automatic services if that box is ticked in GSX settings; (2) unticking automatic services (see below) or (3) under option (2 above) just don't ask for the fuel truck. Or if you still want it, you'll have to bail from GSX to make it go away, then restart it to select pushback.

Copy below into notepad, then save it as just gsx in
C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\CS_L-1011-1

Ramp 21 at Luton (guess what livery I downloaded?) With the exception of the fuel truck (haven't yet figured out how to make it work with F&P) it was surprisingly pain-free.

I thought that the fuel truck worked with the default Menu - Vehicle > Fuel and Payload > Change Fuel - in P3D, so I would have expected that window to open, which as far as I know, you can change the fuel values within it, and it will  display that fuel as the current fuel  quantity when you open the F&P panel.

Thanks, Mark. I'll work with that idea.

As long as we're talking about loading things, what trim do you use? We have the CG supplied now, but I haven't found any info about how that translates to trim.

You are right. My mistake was assuming the CS F&P app made it "custom," but it doesn't. It just goes right through the default Fuel and Payload. When the fuel truck arrives, just point it there when prompted.

Now if I could just figure out how to add that third passenger door!

Here are the animated passengers on "insane" setting.  Cool No stress on my rig; haven't tried it at a third-party airport. Thanks to Karl Robinson (CourtLineFlyer) for the lovely pastel Court livery.

Since I don't care about checks and have never seen a picture of an L1011 with three stairs anyway, here's the simplest solution. Door 3 has proved elusive and the Walter Becker (half of Steely Dan) song "Door Number Two" keeps running through my head after an overtime day of this. Enjoy L1011 Captains!

Copy the config into notepad and save it as gsx.cfg. If you haven't ever set up your L1011 for GSX, create a folder named " CS_L-1011-1" here: C:\Users\[YOU]\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Airplanes\ Drop that sucker in and P3D will automagically find it.

I modified the config to position the fuel truck beneath the left wing rather than beneath fuselage.  I don't know if its the proper location, but at least the truck doesn't look uncomfortably wedged beneath the airplane.

Here is the file if you or anyone is interested.  Look for your current gsx.cfg file and change that to gsx.bak (incase you don't like this one), no need to remove it from the folder.

Then change the extension of this file from gsx.txt to gsx.cfg and place it in the same folder.

You obviously know better what you're doing. My current config adds stairs to the aft door, which I'll admit seems odd, but I found a picture of pax boarding in three doors (main, two, and four). It looks pretty cool, but I'm sure wasn't the normal procedure. For that matter Court Line had its own retractable stairs! I would be happy with the job you've done.

I have found diagrams of the fuel truck on both the left and the right--maybe it could fuel from either wing. Mine should be under the right wing, but your code is better.

How did you avoid the nag on Exit 2, which is the escape hatch?

Good job.

I wish I knew how to get rid of the "Eastern" bleed through when there's a shine on the fuselage.

I used the LVARS instead of the FSX door names.  The positions are already provided so I use those as a starting point and adjust as needed.

I never noticed that bleeding before, but I dont have the freighter variant. I think maybe the livery painter may have missed it.  It is on other liveries too?

oops ok its not a freighter.  But it may still be a mistake in the paint.

I have only noticed it on the Court Line birds, and only when the light shines a certain way. It may not have ever been noticeable before PBR. Not that big of a deal. I wish I could do paints. I did two and both were pretty basic Smiley

As for LVAR, I have no idea or do I need to. I’ll happily adopt your superior GSX file (although I will change to belt loaders). Thank you!
