So far, it seems to be working fine for me. I've only just taken off, and am still in the climb phase.

NOTE. I copied all of the 757-III files into P3Dv5 to test it.

So, help me out here, you just copy the "Captain Sim" folder and all it's contents from the root v4 directory, and put it in the root v5 directory?

Thanks.

A bit more than that.

I copied the following:

Prepar3D v4\Captain_Sim\757-III folder
Prepar3D v4\Captain_Sim\navigation folder
Prepar3D v4\Captain_Sim\bin folder
Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-xxx folders (all entries)
Prepar3D v4\Effects (all cs757_xxx FILE entries (4 cs757_xxx.BMP files are copied from Prepar3D v4\Effects\textures folder))

and pasted them in their relevent folders in Prepar3D v5. I created the Prepar3D v5\Captain_Sim folder before copying those ones over.

It appears to work at least for most of a flight, BUT I'm not sure if it's the CS 757-III causing the crash, or P3Dv5 causing it. Both flights ended due to my Graphics Card "suspending", and the Event Viewer reporting that P3Dv5 was the cause:

Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 5.0.21.34709, time stamp: 0x5e95060d

It is possible that this happened due to me not rebooting my computer since installing P3Dv5. I will test it again today, and see what happens.

EDIT Apr 16th, 2020 at 4:24am: I just completed a 1:10 flight, and it was successful. This was after rebooting my computer, and trying a flight in the 757-III again.  Smiley

The different variants show up. But no liveries for them. IE Delta/United etc.

If you copied them from the P3Dv4 folder to the P3Dv5 folder as I described above, they should be visible (see attached image)

My Graphics Card was not overclocked when I had the error in P3Dv5.
What I did was buy P3Dv5, download it, install it, started it and configured it, exited it, THEN copied the CS757-III files over. Started P3Dv5 again, and did the two flights. After rebooting my computer, and doing the third flight, it worked fine.

You need to copy lines from P3D4 to your P3D5 dll.xml

cs.sound.dll

Your are correct. Sounds will not appear because there is NO dll.xml file for V5 in the C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 folder.

What you need to do is go to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 and add the folowing entry to the dll.xml file:

   <Launch.Addon>
     <Name>Captain Sim Sound</Name>
     <Disabled>False</Disabled>
     <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
     <Path>Captain_Sim\bin\cs.sound.dll</Path>
   </Launch.Addon>

NOTE: this will probably be your first entry into this file

Be sure to SAVE.

Open up your V5 and clicks are audible along with warning sounds.

Mine works.   And all I did is copy files from V4 to V5.

I think the important question here is..... Is CS going to make an installer that will fully install a workable version of this plane into P3Dv5?

I used the installer. It showed to be installed in p3dv4. It generated an error, but then gave the option to install it directly into p3d v5, and it is working.

Has anyone created a full add-on.xml file that points to the v4 installation location for v5?

Hiya,

So I dragged all of the files from P3D v4 into my V5 folder, and when I go to load the 757, I get a black loading screen and then a CTD.

My GPU is not overclocked.

installing V 1.5.

I pointed my installer to P3Dv5. I can see the aircraft on the list but when I select and load the flight Sim hangs for few minutes and crashes to desktop.

Please help what I am doing wrong.

Sure. It's on top of the list. And not just an installer, it's gonna be 1.6 with a number of improvements.

I've installed the CS 757 on P3DV5.  When I installed my another company aircraft i had to modify to registry so that if P3dv4 would go to P3DV5.  Theirs a Youtube video on how to change registry so you can install another company to V5.  Change the registry at your own risk.  The  757 does work but it can crash very easily.  Do not select any 2d displays including the fmc.  MOST IMPORTANT do not select any autopilot cancellation warning or autothtottle cancellation those black switches next to the backup attitude and altimeter it will CRASH.  Try avoid using the zoom mouse function.  Avoid pushing mic or any clock buttons on the cockpit .  I do not know exaclty but the 757 will crash about 3/4 or 1 duration of the flight.  It maybe a command or the sim itself.  I'm using Active Sky P3d Beta, GSX, Ezdok.  Please adjust your sound INI file volume controls and make sure to install the sound fix in the forums for full sound functionality.  The ACE utility and liveries work flawless.  For some reason the sim will crash on the very first flight.  Please try a second attempt.  Still looking into the issue.  Make sure to turn off dynmaic lighting it seems to eat up a ton of frame rates.  Some loss of frame rates with vatsim.  I'm running a older version of nvidia display drivers some fps issues with another company, that may slow 757 down as well. Hopefully captainsim can get in update on the 757.

One CTD on landing at KFLL, some sounds are missing in the vc and one out of memory. But this could be due to LVFR KFLL/KMIA so close to each other, since I was running both at the same time.

Yes, there is a fix.  I put the fix in the forum a couple of months ago.
It has to do with V5 not having a dll.xml file anymore in the following address.....C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5.

You must modify the dll.xml file in the C:\programdata folder

Also, even though the 757 and the 777 do run in version 5, they are not totally compatable. Why?  shaders and shading and texture files need to be adjusted.  that is why CaptainSim officially put out that they would or ARE making new installers for version 5.

Seems to be working mostly for me in V5, however, I can't open any doors through the door manager thing. It only wants to open the front left passenger door. It also didn't follow the G/S on final either and decided to do a random turn off LNAV path.

I can. Although when opening the second passenger door, I thought I was going to have a CTD because P3Dv5 hung for about 7-10 seconds before it opened. After that all of the doors opened like normal (no delay).

I saw a post back in May saying that the 757 v1.6 which would be v5 compatible was at the top of the list ... just trying to see if there is any update on when that can be expected as it has now been 2 months and the L1011 has been made v5 compatible already (since after saying the 757 was top of the list). Huh

I do not want to copy/paste files as there is far too much room for error and seems that its easily causing CTD for most users who've done that.

Yes Chris J.

Read the rest of the Forum.  I've posted at least three times (757,767,777) on how V5 does not have a dll.xml file in the "APP" folder.

You have to add it in the dll.xml file in the ProgramData folder.

Yes Chris J.

Read the rest of the Forum.  I've posted at least three times (757,767,777) on how V5 does not have a dll.xml file in the "APP" folder.

You have to add it in the dll.xml file in the ProgramData folder.

I didn't/don't have to add it to the dll.xml in the C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 (the Captain Sim sound info is only added in the C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\dll.xml file), and the sounds work fine for me in the 757 III, and the 767 II.

Is there a published feature/change list for the upcoming v1.6 for P3D v5?

Must you purchase P3Dv5 from Lockheed before purchasing Captain Sim B757 version?

No. However....
1. If you have P3Dv4, you can use the 64bit version in that sim until you buy P3Dv5.
2. There is a 32bit version for FSX/FSX-SE/P3Dv3, but if you buy that, then move to P3Dv4, or P3Dv5, you will need to buy the 64bit version for either of those sims.
3. If you don't have P3Dv4, or P3Dv5, then you won't be able to use it until you buy one of them, so it would be better to wait until you do (unless the 757 Captain III is on special).
