Altitude Setting

Is anyone else experiencing the Altitude Setting knob not decreasing when using a mouse to bring the level down despite rotating it several times?

I have been experiencing in every flight made so far when trying to re-set the cruise altitude, nothing happened to decrement  it to the chosen level. Instead, all of a sudden it jumps from say CL 35000ft to 7200ft.

I don't understand what you mean. I use the right mouse button to increase the Altitude setting, and the left mouse button to decrease it (while holding the mouse pointer over the knob).

To get the L-1011 to change altitude, you need to use the VS button on the AP, and set the descent rate. You also need to press the ARM button above the altitude, so that it will stop descending at the new altitude you have set. This also applies if you want to increase the altitude.

Hi Mark

I do precisely as you describe. Right-click the mouse to increase the altitude and set the ARM button, which illuminates, and I get the usual alarm when reaching the selected CL altitude. But when I try to go the opposite way to decrease the altitude, when about to descend, nothing in the dial window moves as I keep clicking away, then all of a sudden it decreases from say 35000ft to say 7400ft in one fell swoop.

Additionally, I also do use the V/S button on the MCP to set the ascent/descent rate as you describe.

Off-topic, Mark, just tried a BA livery on what I had hoped to be a long flight from KSFO to EGCC, but whereas on the previous livery, the LTU, despite making at least a dozen flights so far, I had no problems getting the undercarriage up after take-off, despite trying twice, that U/c stayed stuck down.

Maybe a re-install?

Ignore that undercarriage issue, please as I tested it with the LTU livery, then back to the BA livery and both had no issues retracting the undercarriage.

You're certainly having a strange problem with the altitude knob, but it works fine for me.
I did an uninstall/reinstall of the L-1011, including the Hotfix 1002, and it still works fine for me.

Hi Mark

That Hotfix 1002, is it the latest one as I only recently purchased the L-1011 dated 13th August 2109?

Change page of FS flightplan, Reply #10, dated 27-08-2019.

Note. This hotfix did not solve the problem I'm having, so there might be no need for you to download and install it. I suggest you read the thread, and if you have one of the two problems mentioned in the Topic (the OP's or mine), then by all means download Hotfix 1002, and install it.
