Additionally, clicking on cross-head screw next to the right-hand side display(W) I got a strange waypoint showing 3089nm.I thought to myself, 'that's weird,as LEMD is nowhere 3089nm!'. I wonder is that that's throwing the INS out?

I was looking into this, and I wonder if somehow, your route is stuck with KJFK being the first waypoint. When I first load the L-1011-1 II, after turning on the INS, if I click on the "hidden screw" that displays the route, KJFK is there, and it's 3089nm away!!!! This is when I am parked at EGLL - Gate 317!!!! (see attached image)

Note. There is a hotfix 1002, but I believe this was to fix a problem a couple of us were/are having with the route tracking, and an Autoland problem (I wasn't having the Autoland problem) and nothing else, but you never know. Wink

I am intrigued as to how you managed to attach that image because I cannot seem to do it.

I re-loaded that flightplan as for some obscure reason as soon as I noticed I had a distance of over 3000nm in that INS, and this time it did show the correct distances. No idea why that glitch crept it because in no way I inserted KJFK as a waypoint.

After taking-off from Rwy 27L, initially choosing a 271 degrees track as I am climbing out, then selecting to track 243 degrees, and after reaching 3000ft selecting all as you suggested, i.e. both FDs, AP to CMD, HDG switch, then lastly, FMS, this is the weird direction 353 degrees the aircraft heads to

And here are all the correct tracks in the INS yet this aircraft has a mind of its own. So, is the INS Buggy ,or what?

Even after I have manually opted to fly a course to match SAM and then switch over to the FMS, here we go, off heading North, again, like a homing pigeon!

What program are you using that is showing the aircraft on the map?

EDIT. I have attached a zip file which includes the following files:

cs l-1011-1 at egll.cs.config
CS L-1011-1 at EGLL.fxml
CS L-1011-1 at EGLL.wx
EGLLLEMD01.pln1

I think it would best to load the CS L-1011 at EGLL flight from the Scenario Panel before starting P3Dv4!

The L-1011-1 is the default CS L-1011-1 Captain Sim House 1970 1 livery.
It's sitting at the start of runway 27L, ready for takeoff2. All you need to do is release the Parking Brake, and then throttle up. The INS is aligned, and set to NAV, with the route already loaded.
You can takeoff, get the aircraft clean, and climbing at 250 knots, then turn the NAV Source Selector to FMS to immediately start following the route (it will turn to intercept the magenta route line).
Or you can choose to follow Tom Beckett's tutorial.

1 After loading the EGGLLEMD01.pln flight plan into the INS, the creation/modification date for the file, is changed to the date/time that you do it for the first time. After that, the INS no longer changes it (I unzipped the original EGLLLEMD01.pln several times, noting that the creation/modification date for the file changed the first time I loaded it into the INS).

2 The following AP settings are:
Airspeed set to 220 IAS (this is 10 knots less than the maximum speed for 15o Flaps)
VS - ON (Vert Speed set +1000fpm)
HDG - ON (Heading set to 271)
Arm - ON (altitude set to 6000ft)

To follow Tom Beckett's tutorial, you need to turn the NAV button ON (and turn the VS button OFF if you want to use IAS for the climb). Wink

I use AivlaSoft EFBv2 to provide a map-following.

Thanks for the attachments.

Will try out your tips, thanks.

Don't use IAS as when I tried to use it the VS went negative in the initial climb-out.

Same here.

My Climb-out is this:
100-200' AGL - Gear up
400' AGL - AP on
Then it takes until I'm about 1500' AGL, fort the climb rate to drop to +1000fpm, and the airspeed by then is around 200 knots.
At 220 knot, I raise 4o Flaps, and set 240 in the IAS display, and raising the Flaps at 230 knots, and finally set the IAS to 250.
Once 250 knots is reached, I increase the climb rate to 1800fpm.
I stay at 6000' until I pass SAM (as per the SID), then start the climb to FL370.

I am a bit lost here, Mark.

(1)At Rwy27L ready to take off.
(2) Used your zipped file contents
(3)So, the flightplan is EGLLLEMD.pln, right?
(3) But the INS is showing me that attached
(4)So, where did EGLL-LEMD disappear to?
(5) Yet checking your EGLLLEMD.plan,it showed the waypoints you listed in the previous post, yet the INS shows something different
(6) I am really baffled.
