GTN 750

(I'm posting here because i can't post in L-1011 forums)
So i wanted to use the RXP GTN 750 with the L-1011 since i know you can use the F1 GTN but for some reason the plane doesn't follow my route. I switch it to ONS and turn on VLOC on the GTN but it still doesn't work. I've tried VLOC with all three modes, (VOR, NAV, ONS) and i tried GPS with all three modes but still the plane isn't following the route. Is it that the L-1011 is not compatible for some reason with the RXP GTN? (I'm using the Prepar3D v4 CS L-1011 II btw)

Have you tried FMS and ONS modes with the HDG Switch ON?
I ask because I wonder if the HDG Switch needs to be ON for the RXP GTN 750, like it is needed to be ON for the default CIV-A INS.

It's strange that you can't post in the 1011 Captain II forum. Undecided

Yeah i couldnt find a post button on the L-1011 forums.
Anyways, yes i tried pressing HDG on the MCP but the heading doesnt change. WHen i was departing out of CYVR the heading just changed to 340 and didn't let me change it in the FMS and ONS mode. in VOR mode i was able to change the heading manually but for some reason the L-1011 and the RXP isnt communicating. The CS 737 works fine with the RXP because i believe the Sperry autopilot you guys made is custom configured to work with the default GPS and that allows the RXP to work with it. However the CS L-1011 autopilot works differently and is catered to the INS. I also tried pressing NAV but the aircraft doesn't do anything different. I've noticed if i put my flightplan in the GTN 750 AND the INS the plane follows the INS route but not the GTN route. If i turn off the INS midflight the plane still follows the INS route even though the INS is off???

Yes. The L-1011 II INS does seem to be tied to a P3Dv4 GPS route, and I must turn it on to fly a GPS route. Undecided

I am with him on this one. I've tried all kinds of ways to get the GTN 750 to work with it but to no avail. I hope there is an update soon to make it work.

Question about the Flight1 GTN750

Hi guys,

I read somewhere that the L1011 was compatible (to a certain extent) with the Flight1 GTN750. They said that the instructions to get the GPS working with the L1011 were on this forums but I can't seem to find the instructions. Does anybody know how to get it working?

Thanks a lot!

Just tested out and it seems like there is something going wrong, I set the NAV source to ONS and click the NAV and HDG buttons on the mcp, the plane somehow keeps trying to go to a heading of 005 while the course does change. So maybe there is something going wrong there? Because I can see the GTN trying to change the course of the plane but not the heading. Does anyone know what to do here?

I have just got the SimuFly CIVA INS (v1.60x64) working in the L-1011 II, and for it to follow the route, I have to leave the NAV Source Selector set to VOR, and the AP HDG switch ON. Perhaps that is how the L-1011 II will be able to follow the GTN750 route using LNAVC (I'm not sure about how it will go with VNAV).

For the ISG FMC LNAV to couple to the L-1011 autopilot, I suspect it may require the use of a gauge like fsxpaul's "CS737-200 ISG FMS Control Gauge" for the CS 737.

I have just read in a previous thread that such a XML script (again by fsxpaul) exists for the L-1011. Fantastic and I will try it.

I wrote this a while ago, and applies to the 32-bit sim. It may still apply to the 64-bit version. My recollection is that the Tristar was would not track heading commands by simulated third-party nav systems.

However, with fsxpaul's XMl script I had it (the 32-bit version) working perfectly with the F1 GTN, ISG FMS, and a triple-install of the Simufly CIVA INS. Autopilot heading changes commanded by whichever nav system in effect were predictable and smooth.

Not sure where in the forums the relevant helpful script actually is, unfortunately. It's somewhere. Tried searching in the 32-bit L-1011 forum but no dice. Might try a wider search later when I have time. I have a feeling its was in the General, non-aircraft-specific forum, circa late 2018.
