Since hotfix 3:

5. Push – sets the DEFAULT panel state loading ON/OFF.

DEFAULT STATE
If a new custom sate is saved/named DEFAULT and the LOAD DEFAULT PANEL STATE option is ON, the custom sate will be loaded as the default state.

Will appear in the manual next update.

When I click on the line select key which corresponds to "load default panel state", the execute button lights up but the "off" indicator does not switch to "on".  Thus, I cannot select the default panel state as being "on".

I tried attaching a photo (too large) and an embedded link (not allowed).

Just adding confirmation to the post above,

Clicking on the key to set "LOAD DEFAULT PANEL STATE <ON> changes nothing on the display. The option remains <OFF>. The EXEC key lights but has no effect.

I am not sure what's going on with the saving of the panel state....I would have chosen the no pause of top of descent, but even after setting that, the flight still pauses at top of descent.

It's a bug. On the list.

Quick fix: open p3dv4\Captain_Sim\757-III\y572.xml with notepad

<load_default>0</load_default>
change to
<load_default>1</load_default>

Hello:

I'm still confused on how to save "Ready for Take-Off" as my default panel state.  Could you please explain step-by-step on how to accomplish that.

Thanks.

But make sure you got Hotfix 4 first.

On the CDU, click on MENU > Options (LSK5R) > States (LSK1R) > Then choose from Cold and Dark (LSK1L), On APU (LSK2L), Ready for Takeoff (LSK3L), or click on Custom States (LSK6R) so you can select you own saved panel states if you have any.

ANOTHER Panel State Query

I have made a Panel State that is Cold and Dark. I have set Menu|Setup|Options|Load Default Panel State to On (along with all other Options I want). I then load my Cold and Dark panel state and the view I desire (Capt Seat). I save the Scenario. If I load the Scenario it all works as desired. HOWEVER, I would like to load ANYWHERE and still have the same Panel State (Cold and Dark) and the same view (the view at least works!).

How do I make MY Panel State the Default that loads regardless of where I choose to start?

Cheers

Hazza

Tutorial video: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cF1vnkFZG2

1) CDU: Menu >> Setup >> Options >> Page 2 >> Load Default Panel State: On
2) press EXEC
3) setup the state of your wish
4) CDU: Menu >> Setup >> States >> Custom States
5) type 'DEFAULT' in scratchpad
6) select line with NEW STATE prompt
7) press EXEC

The above has nothing to do with CAMERA (VIEW) position which is always saved with the SCENARIO (the .fxml) file.

Unfortunately that process is not working for me Sad When I do that and restart P3Dv4, I choose an airport and the 757. Once the 757 is loaded It is always with engines on. The panel state I am creating is Cold & Dark (with more switches and selectors in Off positions. I have also Created another Cold & Dark (with another name obviously!) and manually edited the Battery and Standby Power as off. Can't get that one to load by default either.

Any other ideas welcome!

Ok. We can do in a different way as well.
Make sure you have last version installed (1104 at this time).

1) Open folder: p3dv4\Captain_Sim\757-III\

2) Open y572.xml in the notepad and make sure
<load_default>1</load_default>
If 0, replace by 1,  save and close the file.

3) Open folder: p3dv4\Captain_Sim\757-III\panel\

4) Copy file COLD AND DARK.cfg from basic to custom folder

5) Rename COLD AND DARK.cfg to DEFAULT.cfg in the custom folder

Now, any flight with 757 should be loaded as COLD AND DARK.
Please confirm.
