how to use FD

Hi, during an ILS approach the FD is completely incorrect.  The glideslope on the PFD is accurate but the FD points WAY off course.  Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

Can anyone help?  Im still having this issue.

My procedure is as follows:

Enter ILS frequency and course in the pedestal radio. (BTW ive noticed that the Front CRS heading on the FMC Approach page often is different to the current charts.  For example it was 46 degrees for Runway 04 at KLGA but the charts show 44)

When turning on to final press LOC
Once localizer is captured press APP.
All 3 CMD autopilots arm themselves but then the FD does not track the GS.  It always, 100% of the time, takes me too high and mostly off course (I assume this is because the Front CRS is wrong).

Any ideas?

The only time I don't capture the GS, is if I press APP when I'm above the GS. It's better to press APP while still below the GS.
As for the different headings for the ILS, P3Dv4 still seems to be using the data from FSX (which I think is from about 2004, not 2007 which is when FSX was released), and it is stagnant, unlike the real life, where magnetic north is moving, and even so, the MCP should track the ILS fine.

Thank you for the reply.  Its definitely got me baffled.  Is the procedure I mentioned correct?  Im definitely capturing the GS correctly (from below).  The PFD shows GS captured correctly.  Its just the FD that is crazy.

Smetimes I use LOC until I'm lined up with the ILS, then press APP.
Other times I press APP, it will capture the ILS like LOC does, but it continues to use VNAV, or ALT HOLD, until the GS is captured (as long as it's below the GS).

The problem is, its capturing everythign correctly, however the flight director is wrong and it takes the plane over and off to the side of the GS.

It could be that the FD is using the FMC information instead of the ILS system. There can be some minute differences between the FMC data and the ILS system guidance. If you are truly in approach mode, and you can verify when LOC and GS are in green on your PFD. If that is indeed the case you can safely ignore the FD indication and focus only on the lateral and vertical indicators on the PFD.
