When ever I try and put my IRS position I enter the airport code and it accepts that but when it asked me for a gate number I get the same error no matter what airport I'm at. ( Not in database )
I cant even use my aircraft can someone please help me out with this I cant seem to find a way to update the database without paying for it. Since I already paid for the aircraft I don't think I should have to pay more money to make it work

Aeronautical database (AIRAC Cycle 0903) included into the original product pack is provided by NAVIGRAPH&NAVData Service. Updates can be purchased at NAVIGRAPH&NAVData website.
It is also possible for users to add custom aeronautical data, please see the Manual Part V for details.
Please note: We support Original FMS database only.

I only ever enter the airport code, not the gate number. For the alignment, I enter the GPS coordinates (LSK 4R), not the coordinates for the airport, or gate, as they can be off by a bit.

I too only enter the GPS position to align the IRS's

The data for the individual gates would be massive and really makes no difference in IRS alignment for flying in FSX or P3D.

A quick story about the real IRS's...

Wherever your position was at last shutdown of the IRS's was where you needed to be when you would turn them on again.

One time - a long time ago  Grin - I flew into Denver in a 757. Our normal gate was occupied by a "sick" plane so we had to use another gate on the other side of the terminal. During the night the "sick" plane was dispatched and the ground crew moved our 757 over to the normal gate.

Here lies the rub... when they moved the 757, they just pulled it around with the tug. They never aligned the IRS's before moving. The next morning when we arrived at the airport and saw the plane was at it's normal gate, we had no idea how bad this was going to be. When we tried to align the IRS's they would not accept the "new" position since it was off from the last shutdown. It took all kinds of re-sets and manual entries of position using the key pad on the IRS panel before we could convince the IRS that it was okay at the new position 400 feet away.

We would have had a quicker alignment if we had moved the plane back to the arrival gate and done the alignment!

Wow! That's a very fascinating bit of info regarding aligning the IRS after moving the plane to a different gate only 400 feet away Lou.
In FSX/P3D, I often move my aircraft 100's, or 1,000's, of miles from where I last shut them down, and if it was going to be as difficult to realign the IRS, as it was in that real life experience, I would have given up flying the modern airliners, and stuck to GA aircraft, years ago! Shocked Cheesy
