C-130 X-perience Problems

I purchased the C-130 X-perience All-In-One Pack for FSX just after getting my new PC. It looks really good, beautiful aircraft. I can see a lot of work went into getting it just so. I ran into some troubles with it I am hoping one of you can shed some light on.

Download and install went without a hitch.  Aircraft and all variations appear.  After selecting aircraft and "fly now" is pressed, FSX loads normally.  Aircraft appears on active runway with engines running.  Aircraft cycles through 2D and visual cockpit views normally.  It also responds to mini panel selections from small panel in corner of main cockpit view without issue.

This is where the problems began. The only control aircraft will respond to is throttle on joystick.  Flight controls on aircraft, elevator, rudder and ailerons will not respond to inputs from joystick. Switches in cockpit which should respond to mouse clicks only do so intermittently or not at all. Joystick has been re-calibrated and USB connection double-checked. Joystick tested with other aircraft and works normally. Since they are all working correctly this leads me to believe the problem is with the C-130. Also, no error messages have appeared or "CTD's" have occurred.

I have ben "flight simming" since FS 2002. I have installed a lot of freeware and payware aircraft and sceneries from many publishers including Carenado, another company, Just Flight, FSD, Flight 1 and Abacus besides Captain Sim. I think I am pretty skilled at troubleshooting issues when they arise but this one has got me baffled.

My PC is brand new. Windows 10 OS, plenty of power and capacity and only used for flight simming. It runs FSX plus "Acceleration" without any trouble. My other installed aircraft and payware sceneries function without any problems so I don't understand what's wrong here. Can any of you help?

Best Regards

I find that I have to reload the C130 right at the start to make it behave normally.

I tried your suggestion this morning. Tried restarting/rebooting PC after and unfortunately neither way helped. Tried disconnecting joystick altogether to see what would happen.  Found rudder would respond but elevator and ailerons would not. Thanks for the advice...

It sounds like the Activation didn't work. To reactivate it, you need to go to the registry and remove the C130 entry.

Start > Run > regedit > then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim, or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SysWOW6432Node\CaptainSim for 64bit systems > delete the C130XPRO folder.

I recommend that when you run the installer to reinstall it, you right click on it, and select "Run as administrator" from the list, even if you are using Win8/8.1/10, where it appears to run it as an administrator by left clicking on it! Also, do a Manual Offline Activation.

Thanks very much Skipper. Your suggestion and advice was absolutely spot on. Took about 5-10 minutes. The only reason it took that long was I just wanted to make sure I deleted the correct folder. Seems like it is working o.k. from the bit I saw before shutting the a/c down. Again, many thanks...

Happy Trails

I had not flown my CS X-Perience (FSX) Lockheed C-130 aircrafts for a long time (years). When I now first tried one the whole OS crashed to a blue window just after trying to load the aircraft. I tried another airplane. Same result.

Next I uninstalled the whole C-130 X-Perience package booted the PC and installed the package again. Started FSX and loaded a C-130 aircraft. While registering the gauge: Captain_Sim.c130.sound.GAU same happened again - blue window. (I had removed all C-130 gauges from FSX.cfg). Other planes gave the same result (didn't try more than 2).

Next step. I canceled the Captain_Sim.c130.sound lines from panel.cfg by //. Then I started FSX again and loaded one C-130. All worked ok. (motor sounds included so I don't even know/remember which sounds ware lacking).

Question:  What might be wrong with the Captain_Sim.c130.sound.GAU? It crashes my Windows.

I remember that all C-130s worked ok. in this very same computer some years ago. I don't remember making any major changes with hardware nor software.

Some information:

My PC: CPU i7-3770k, 16GB RAM, Asus P8Z77-M mother board, GPU NVidia Geforce GTX 660 2GB, Windows 7 Pro (English version)

Simulator: FSX, Orbx base pack, vector and Open LC Europe, Active Sky Next, sceneries and aircrafts (without serious problems)

Check to see if the Captain_Sim.c130.sound.gau is in the FSX\Gauges folder. You might be getting the blue screen because it was/is trying to use a file that doesn't exist.

If the file isn't there, try reinstalling the C-130 X-Perience (FSX) again - turn off, or disable, your Anti-Virus software, and run the installer using the "Run as admistrator" option (right click on csp131_1300.exe and select "Run as admistrator" from the list that pops up).

Thought that myself too but yes it is there.

I always do that with any addon. No help in this case.

I think the problem must be due to something I have done for the system between the years I haven't used C-130 - but what? That's the question. At the moment I have no idea.
