Adding News Icons On Virtual Cockpit Display
Jul 9th, 2015 at 12:15am

Recently I added other windows at [panel.cfg], such as GPS, kneeboard and their icons. Well, they always appear on FSX [VIEWS] menu, and when I click on them, they appear on display as shown below, but when I cycle through views, i.e. using [A] or [S], icons disappear at all views. So, how to permanently attach news windows on display? I remember Mark told us, some months or years ago, how to do it, but I can't find the topic now. It was something about [Undock Views]. Could someone help me?

I wrote about adding a line in the [WindowXX] section of the panel.cfg that allowed the gauge to remain in view even if you changed the view using the A,  S, F9, F10, F11, and F12 keys. That line is

type=special

I use it like this in the L-1011 so the CIVA remains displayed when I change views:

[Window03]
size_mm=200, 286
background_color=0,0,0
window_pos=0.30,0.07
visible=0
render_3d_window=0
type=special
ident=11004
gauge00=civa!msu, 0,  0, 200,  68
gauge01=civa!cdu, 0, 68, 200, 218

Here is a video showing how it works:

Wow...Now it's working fine. Icons are always visible. Thanks a lot. Smiley

background_color=1,1,1
position=6

type=special
gauge00=SimIcons!GPS Icon,   0, 0, 32, 32
