Help from Markoz.

Thank's Mark for all the help you have given everybody on these forums for several years now. I and I am sure some other silent ones out there would like to know what you really think about P3D.
I have read various peoples take on what advantages or disadvantages it gives them. Will it improve frame rate or not? Will the scenery look better. Will my complex aircraft perform better? Is it really worth the investment at this stage of it's development? Any observations that you may have on the whole subject would be helpful to me and I am sure many others who are undecided.
Thanks Mate
David

Mark,

A truly BIG Thank You for all the good help you provide.

I too would like to know the same information before I try to up-grade. Also, how does it work with WIN8?

***BLUSH*** Thank you. Smiley

P3D v2 is very good. The way P3D v2 can handle the newer graphics cards and utilise DX11, make its performance very good.

I have not gone to great lengths to tweak the sliders to improve things much in P3Dv2as I am happy with what I've got and would rather spend the time flying than tweaking! Shocked. As an example of the way P3D works with my current system, switching from an external view, back to the VC, there is no delay in loading the textures, so no black VC while waiting for the textures to be loaded. I don't remember seeing any black patches/squares on the default scenery, but I haven't really looked for them either (I'm too busy flying).

I bought the Academic Licence, and although there is the watermark at the top right of the screen, I don't really notice it, and that is the only real difference between the Pro Licence and the Academic Licence as far as I know.

At the moment, I only have the CS 777 (P3D), CS L-1011 (P3D), CS 707 (FSX), 737 (FSX) & 767 (FSX) and the C172R Trainer (P3D ) installed. I will eventually get around to installing my other products that are for FSX and/or P3D, as well as the CS Weather Radar and Weapon for FSX. Unfortunately. P3D was installed on a partition on my 1TB HDD that suffered a catastrophic failure a couple of months ago and I haven't bothered to install everything for it yet (only those I fly the most in P3D).

Because I don't install very many FSX products into P3D, I still spend more time flying in FSX rather than in P3D, and I spend most of my time flying Captain Sim aircraft. I spend even more of my time in P3Dv2 flying Captain Sim (the ones I listed above). Grin

No need to blush, the plaudits are well deserved. Thanks for your observations. I'm still not sure if I need to make the investment just yet. Although it seems that this may be the way to go in the future.
Please let us know if you observe any more for's or indeed against's with it.

David

I think there are a lot of pluses for P3D v2. Since the 2.1 update, I uninstalled v.14 and don't care to return to it. I view P3D v2.2 as quite a step forward for FSX. As more addon aircraft become available for it, I start to spend more time flying in P3D.

I probably should do a check on all my addon aircraft to see if they have updated installers for P3Dv2. I have so many addon aircraft for FSX, that it will take quite a while to check on them all. Shocked Cheesy

I would never tell anyone they should go and buy P3D v2! So I leave it up to you to decide for yourself. Some 3rd party devs are charging for their P3D versions, like Captain Sim is, so would need to decide if you buy for FSX, or P3D, or BOTH. I always buy both. Cheesy

But I have no regrets at all about buying P3Dv2.x (Academic Licence).
P3Dv1.x (i used v1.3 and v1.4) was very good, and I enjoyed using it. But P3Dv2.x is way better IMHO. Grin

I would also like to give Mark a big thank you for his help and advice. Without his posts and tutorials - especially ragarding the missing T/D issue - i would probably still be grounded..

I really like this friendly forum. Reminds me of the good old FS9 days, when I only flew classic aircraft from equally friendly freeware developers sites.

You will have to settle for adding your question within the Tech issues forum that belongs to the Captain Sim addon that you have. If there is no Tech issues forum for it, then you will have to ask in another thread/topic. Try to pick one that fits closest to your problem.

Other than that, you'll just have to wait until reach 10 posts to be able to create your own topic. Undecided

Thank you for the info, i will try to post this, as you indicate too, in the mean time maybe you might come up with a answer to this frustrating fsx problem. many thanks. ken in Ro.
Default Fsx - inflight aircraft none alignment to any landing strip ?
After many frustrating months of trying to eradicate a error in fsx, i am asking if possibly there is a answer or correction which can be applied.
Problem is this, Whilst in flight ,and on approach, any aircraft takes on about 0.8 degrees of nose to the right and will not straighten up to a 360 line ( aircraft viewed from tail to nose ) When well under the 500ft and not far off touchdown, I find I have to apply full left rudder in a effort to keep the a/c on the strip line, however, at this point the aircraft does not accept any controller inputs to follow the runway but proceeds crabbing sideways up screen center. Should i not apply controller inputs when about to land the aircraft will put down to either the right or left of any strip and behave normally. There seems to be a inbuilt bias ? This error also is in being using fsx single or for a online flight.
Trying to eradicate this problem , I have carried out the following :- tried fsx on 3 other pcs- have tried many new copies of fsx- fs x/de lux & gold, now have 10 copies !- This error happens with bare installed fsx and with or without addon scenery or aircraft. Tried installing with a new download of sp2 direct from ms and with ms acceleration, makes no difference. I ensure that all wx & wind sheer is turned off and set to 0 degrees- as manual wx keeps the weather to basic set up. All constants such as fsinn/fscuip4/ ukmil acars eliminated for each install tried- Prior to any install the hdd was cleared by a full format,to insure a clean install. Finally, built a brand new game pc for Fsx , new m/board supporting 8 ghig ram with 8 ghig shadowed- new hybrid hdd t1000by Seagate- Nvidia 560 gtx ti overclocked video card- New Pc is about a month old and using win 7- all Pc,s tried were with win7. First install of FSX still showed this error of aircraft none alignment. For some years been using the hotas twin and the t1600m by Thrustmaster- in the last 2 years , using X52 & X55 Controllers by Saitek.
I am not new to flightsim, started armchair flying from when fs 2000 was first available, well used to the ins and outs of 2004 and i thought, FSX ? Funnily, this error only appeared about 18 months ago or maybe a little less. absolutely boffled, hoping for a fix to alleviate frustration.
Many thanks

You have a very strange problem indeed. I have no idea what the problem might be, but I can only think that something you may have installed 18 months ago, may be affecting FSX. Whatever it was you installed, you install when you upgrade or buy a new computer. But that is only what I think might be your problem. Undecided

I strongly suggest that you go to MS FSX Forum, over at AVSIM (you will need to register/login) and ask for help there, as you are more likely to find others who may have had a similar problem to yours, or who may be able to provide a solution.
