PMS (Performance Management System)

So I got my hands on some L1011 manuals from Delta and it seems like they (along with many other operators) used a Performance Management System which was situated just above the INS unit. Since CS has already created a PMS for the 737, I was wondering if they would consider adding a PMS unit similar to the one used on the real L1011? In the absence of performance data this would be the perfect option to correctly fly the aircraft.

The entire VC doesn't have to be redone, I am at least hopeful that in a similar manner to a certain 737, the option to have the PMS can be either selected on or off.

PMS would be a cherry on top of already tasty cake ...
Seriously, lack of PMS is quite serious "hole" in Tristar package.

Its a hole but small compared to how complete of a product we have at the moment. Hopefully we get the PMS in a future update. Right now we can always fly based off of the EPR charts.

Not really, differences between real charts and 'our' version of L1011 are quite big ....

PMS? A rather unfortunate acronym...  Tongue

Considering aircraft are always female.  Wink Wink

I agree.

I just bought it and I'm quite shocked there is no performance information anywhere.

V-speeds bugs should be minimum.

How are we supposed to fly it realistically without those?

I worked at Lockheed (in flight crew training as an instructor) when they were building the L-1011's and delivering them to all the major US airlines. None of them, repeat, none of them had a Performance Management System installed when they left the factory. It was not part of the factory offered options.

And none of them had the INS units either. Those were all after market installed options.

I've flown the PMS unit in the MD-80's and MD-88's and they are junk, really. As an operator and pilot, if you didn't have one,  you wouldn't miss it at all.

The INS is where the real value is. I'd take an INS system long before I'd take a PMS system. In fact, let me correct that, I wouldn't take a PMS system at all. You can keep it.

I realize some will want to fly with the PMS units and that's fine. I'm just saying in the real world they don't add much value, really. I wouldn't waste my time learning how to use one. I'd spend the time learning the INS units.
