I recommend that you open the fsx.cfg (START > Run > enter %appdata%\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg > click OK) then in the [Display] section, add WideViewAspect=TRUE.

On the wide screen monitor (and TV's) that most people use these days, I think it's essential to have WideViewAspect=TRUE added to the fsx.cfg. Everything in FSX will look much better than what you are seeing now Lou. Wink

Mark --

Like I said --- I have mine set at False(default). I tried it set to *True* a couple times and I get a fish eye effect in external view and my gauges are a bit stretched. Have gone back to False both times and everything looks perfectly normal -- that's on my 28" Hanns G monitor with a 1920x1200 resolution.

Lou -

You may have to first go to  Start-Control Panel-Folder Options-View and under *Hidden Files and Folders* change from *Do Not Show* to *Show*.

From then on you can get to the fsx.config in Application Data

I've never accessed it like Mark suggests. but he's a moxy pc guy!!!

This is how mine looks with the setting WideViewAspec=False:

And with the setting WideViewAspect=True:

So I get a larger field of view with the setting on True! Wink

Mark -- I just spent 2 hours trying to duplicate what I used to see with *True* and couldn't do it. I get the same results as you do now. True is zoomed out and False is zoomed in, but No real distortion in either. I will use True(and zoom in when desired) for a while and see what it does.

I think I know why I was getting the fish eye using True in the past --- maybe because of the way I had my default flight settings zoomed and set. They would apply to any other flight when set up -- I think.
