Are there any traditional Air Canada 707 repaints around? (I'm new to Captain Sim and still trying to find my way around the place.)

Hi there,

Air Canada never operated the B707. At the time it was mostly DC-8s and 727s. It would be hard to find a repaint for the 707 - I couldn't on any of the freeware sites.

Wardair Canada did operate them (1968 - 78), and I haven't found a repaint for that airline either.

I did not know that! My earliest recollections of AC flights were on the Viscount, Vanguard and DC-9. (guess how old I am!  Wink )I guess I should have googled a bit before I asked. Thanks for the info!

There's nothing wrong with a fictional livery. I want all my airliners to be in a QANTAS livery, regardless of whether they had/have any in real life, or not. Cheesy Grin

I am a bit of the same, I was just pointing out that no one as done an AC repaint for the 707, probably because AC never had them.

It would be cool.  Grin

(then again AC operated many DC-8s and those would be cool to have.... Wink)

I can't open a new topic, so I'll write that here:
How can I merge the VC of the 707 with the external model of HJG?
I want the KC707 (not the KC135) with the great CS 707 Captain cockpit.. but I can't make it work.. it's looks like it works on the preview but on flight I can't see no plane or cockpit..

What can I do?

Dougal, a short quick answer you can't merge the Capt Sim with HJG and never will so forget trying The HJG models never had a VC only 2D. Reason? Its the models and how they were made,. HJG is a MS2004 model which will run in FSX but the models were built using a different modelling program and methodology than is used in FSX. This comes up time and time again on various sim forums. It is very complicated to explain why but the mesh design, texture mapping and coding is not a match and cannot be. You can't decompile the older models because unless the keys and data coding is provided to you by the designer you end up with garbage. Even if you could do that you would still have to design the  VC from scratch and that is a major major piece of work. There is a way of looking at the models (a program on the net) but that is all.

Now a question for you, why on earth would you want to do that anyway? Why not use the Capt Sim model?

Hi,

I'm trying to download a Varig Repaint for the 707 Captain but the zip file available for downloan on the Captain Sim site is invalid.  Does anyone know where else I can get this Repaint?

Hi,
I have Googled "Captain Sim 707 Varig", which returned a number of hits for this livery.
Here's one of them:
http://thebigflight.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/blog-post.html?m=1
The link appears valid, so give it a go!
Fabio

NB: IF they are for FS9, converting liveries to FSX is (fairly) easy, though I understand that FS9 repaints work OK in FSX.

I tried downloading the Varig livery from the Captain Sim 707 Free Liveries, but it was corrupted every time. I tried with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, so I've concluded that the file is definitely corrupt. Sad

any body know where I can get the paintkit textures for the engines and wings for the 707?  When I download the paintkit for the site, all I get are the two fuse textures and the tail texture.  Thank you.

You have to do it with the DDS files found in the CS_B707-300\texture folder or CS_B707-300\texture.xxx folder if the wings/engines are a closer match to what you want to do.

I use DXTBmp to open the DDS files, the I edit them from there with the program Photoshop (or whatever program you prefer).
I've never done it myself because I'm a hopeless repainter. Sad
