Err - Wow, something I've never had to do! Fully powered on APU and in Push Back, Fuel Isolators ON, Pressure Pumps ON, 'Auto Start' selected and just Select the Right engine to "Start" -- wait until stable and do some house keeping then Select Left engine to "Start" and complete procedure. - Takes about 2 minutes.  Smiley NEVER HAD TO WORRY ABOUT MIXTURE????

Lucky you. Smiley I would love to know what you default flight for FSX is.Wink

The only way that I can start them without using CTRL+SHIFT+F4, is to make sure that the Mixture Lever is set to Full Rich (100%) in my default flight.

I don't use any fancy flight station just a Logitech joy stick and I do not have any specific 'default flight' other than the one I'm testing and saved at the time, which can vary daily or even hourly. Mostly bouncing between CS and A2A Accusim models, as such my 'realism/automixture' is permanently set DISABLED.

I rarely load a flight from the FSX boot screen rather than 'Fly Now' the default flight then load the flight, no matter - what - where - model - or saved state from the drop down menu.

Works for me!  Wink That includes a CS B77x Cold and Dark flight from a A2A B377 COTS Cold and dark or mid flight or whatever.

I don't think the need to use CTRL+SHIFT+F4 has anything to do with automixture setting in the realism settings. Mine has been disabled since long before the CS 777 came onto the scene. Wink

Been doing some tests and Engines will not start after pressing 'CTRL + SHIFT + F1' so then pressing 'CTRL + SHIFT + F4' away they go.

Looked at these parameters in all my saved B77x *.FLT Files. They are the same for all saved "cold" situations but some tags vary to other situations (understandable) including CS's default flight - 777-200 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA).FLT where you will note the mixture is near unity:

After I change the MixtureLeverPct=0.996 to zero then I have to do the 'CTRL + SHIFT + F4' thingy. Some of you guys have based your start up procedures on the default C172 (which I have never done) therefore your mixtures will not be maximum. Try basing your cold default situations on the CSB77x with these parameters.

That is the correct setting for the 777-200 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA) saved flight file because the engines are already started. The 777 does not come with a cold and dark flight, so you have to create your own. And here are the settings after turning the fuel control switches off:

From that cold and dark setting for the 767-300 (the CS 707,727, 737 and 757 all have the MictureLeverPct=0 in their Cold-n-dark (KSEA).FLT FILE), I can start the engines by simply turning the Fuel Control Switches to the RUN position.

When I saved the 777 flight (where I only turned the Fuel Control Switches to OFF (fuel cutoff), then looked at the MixtureLeverPct= setting, I also went and changed them to MixtureLeverPct=0. When I restarted FSX, using that file for that test, to bypass the start screen, I could not stat the 777 unless I pressed CTRL+SIFT+F4!

So why is it that when I set the MixtureLeverPct setting set to MixtureLeverPct=0 for the 777, that the engines will not start unless I press CTRL+SHIFT+F4? It is this difference, that make the 777 not start from the default C172 in a cold and dark setting. ALL my other addon jet airliners start by turning the Fuel Control Switches to RUN, only the Captain Sim 777 doesn't start.

Here is why I think it is happening. I believe that the animation tag for the Fuel Control Switches is different to those used in the other CS aircraft, which stops the 777 from starting the engines when the setting in the saved FLT file is MixtureLeverPct=0. Sad

Without confusing the issue I have just shut down the 777-200 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA) default completely cold including fuel isolators OFF. Saved the flight then taken a look at the *.flt file - the mixtures are as above in my post:

MixtureLeverPct=0.99615478515625

At no time has my (B777) system saved the mixture as:

MixtureLeverPct=0.0

So Mark your last statement could well be correct BUT your saying that when you save cold and dark with isolators OFF your mixtures are saved as zero?  Undecided

With the 777, the MixtureLeverPct=0.99615478515625 never changes, even when the 777's Fuel Control Switches are OFF (and save the flight). In other aircraft (including most add-on jet airliners), when you turn those switches to the OFF/FUEL CUTOFF position and save the flight, the MixtureLeverPct entry is MixtureLeverPct=0, but even if the addons don't do that, they are still capable of turning the mixture ON. Those aircraft CAN be started in FSX even with my default flight being the C172 cold and dark with the MixtureLeverPct=0 setting. The Captain Sim 777 is the only addon aircraft, that I can recall at this time, that I must use CTRL+SHIFT+F4 so the engines can be started. One other jet (which is NOT an addon aircraft) that doesn't start unless I use CTRL+SHIFT+F4, is the default Acceleration F/A-18. Guess who made it? That's right, Captain Sim did! Shocked

The point is that IF the MixtureLeverPct setting =0, then the 777 won't start. The Captain Sim 757, 727, 767, 707, B-52 and 737 all start even if the MixtureLeverPct setting IS =0, but not the Captain Sim 777.

Just out of curiosity, do a test: Edit one of your CS777 cold and dark saved flight (FLT) files. Change the MixterLeverPct to MixtureLeverPct=0. Now try starting the 777's engines and let me know what happened. Wink
