Repaint compatability

I happened to hit the list of repaints for the C130 for FS9 by accident. I noticed that they have some good SAAF repaints in there. How compatible are these with the FSX version? If they are not compatible, does anyone know where i can lay my hands on SAAF repaints for FSX version?

You are in luck Lee!!! I did a whole bunch of SAAF for someone else back in August 2011, AND it looks like I still have all the modified files, AND I made them so they could be added using the C-130 ACE. Grin Grin Grin

I'll get them up on Rapidshare ASAP. Wink

Hi Lee.

I just had a close look at the files and I think you can just add them to the C-130 X-perience. You just need to know which model it is for and add it to the aircraft.cfg so you can see it.

For example, David Sweetman's 28 Squadron, SAAF, camo scheme (C-130B) might need to be added to the 'A' or 'E' model, seeing as there is no 'B' model. You can't use the ACE to add it because the description.txt is designed for use with the ACE for the Legendary C-130, whereas the ACE for the C-130 X-Perience needs a livery.cfg to get the information from. The livery.cfg is different to the description.txt, so you would need to open it, modify it to suit the C-130X ACE and save it as livery.cfg for it to work with your ACE

Now. I have uploaded 5 modified liveries for the C-130 X-perience Pro FSX. All were done by Morné Pieters and not by me! All I have done is convert them to DDS files and repack them for use with the C-130 X-perience FSX.

They are:

South African Air Force, 28 Squadron - 401.
http://rapidshare.com/files/3258741676/texture.saaf401.zip

South African Air Force 28 Squadron - 402.
http://rapidshare.com/files/2883319988/texture.saaf402.zip

South African Air Force 28 Squadron - 404.
http://rapidshare.com/files/2764638267/texture.saaf404.zip

South African Air Force 28 Squadron - 404 Bare Metal.
http://rapidshare.com/files/1341505188/texture.saaf404bm.zip

South African Air Force, 28 Squadron - 408.
http://rapidshare.com/files/28850189/texture.saaf408.zip

If you take a look at the file names, texture.cfg and livery.cfg you will get an idea of what is needed to add a Legendary C-130 to the C-130 X-perience FSX. You do not need to flip the BMP files, nor do you need to convert them to DDS files to work with FSX. FSx will see and use the BMP files fine. See the attached image of South African Airforce, C-130B, Camoflage scheme by David Sweetman. It works nicely in FSX. I made it a C-130E.

Thanks Mark. Looks good, tried to download from rapidshare, but seems they're down for maintenance. I'll have a go again later. Looks good

Sorry about that. Embarrassed
You extract both the South Africa.BMP and South Africa.JPG (in the Program Files.zip in David Sweetman's saaf_camo.zip) flags to the FSX\Captain_Sim\130\flags folder. In the ones I modified, they are the South Africa.DDS and South Africa.JPG in Flags folder win my zip files. I'm pretty sure that the BMP is fine, even though that folder is full of DDS and JPG (I didn't see any BMP files in it).
