fuel in pounds
Dec 26th, 2012 at 9:58pm
Print Post
When I add fuel threw the aircraft fuel payload, I have set for pounds.
When I look at gauge in VC, it shows as KGS.

How can I change this so fuel shows in pounds and not in kgs on the fuel gauge?

Can I make the change somewhere in the aircraft cfg?
I didn't see a ini file for this aircraft.

Thanks

You can download a mod that I did from here: https://rapidshare.com/files/1088162226/CS757_LBS_Mod.zip

Instructions:
1) Backup the original Captain_Sim.b757.oh.cab file, found in [FSX root folder]\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200\panel folder
2) Extract the Captain_Sim.b757.oh.MOD.cab file into the [FSX root folder]\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200\panel folder
3) Rename the Captain_Sim.b757.oh.MOD.cab file to Captain_Sim.b757.oh.cab and you are ready to go

One thing that I haven't done, is change the textures on the OH panel in the VC or the 2D Fuel Panel from KGS x 1000 to LBS x 1000. I'm not very good at modifying textures. Sad

Do you know which texture would be the one. I tried modifying cs757_C_08_T.dds, which I thought might be it, but the kgs x 1000 still showed in the vc and on the over head pop up. If it is the one, then I must be doing something wrong in order for it to show up.

The textures are:
OH_14_fuel_1_bkg.bmp
OH_14_fuel_1_bkg_n.bmp
OH_14_fuel_quantity.bmp
OH_14_fuel_quantity_n.bmp

Hope this helps

Thanks fsxpaul.
I extracted from the cab file and made changes.
I can't get them back into the cab files. I'm not sure how to add them or I don't have the right utility to get them added into the cab file.

It's not absolutely necessary to get them back into the CAB file. Here's what you do:

1. Create a directory Captain_Sim.b757.oh in C:\..\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200\panel
2. Extract all the files from Captain_Sim.b757.oh.CAB into this new directory and add your modified images too.
3. Rename Captain_Sim.b757.oh.CAB to something like Captain_Sim.b757.oh.bak.CAB

You can get them back into a CAB file if you have FSX SDK installed (Acceleration includes this but you must install the SDK separately).
The required file is called Cabdir.exe.

You could always try the FS9 SDK that includes the cabdir.exe, it would be a lot easier. I don't think there is any difference between the two, but Paul could probably answer that better than me.

You can get it here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/e/5/fe55ede7-3818-40c4-8790-468a0d74798..., but wait until you hear what Paul has to say first! Wink

I downloaded and tested the FS9 Cabdir.exe and it works properly.

Although it may not work with native FSX aircraft. The CS-757 did start out as a FS9 aircraft afterall  Wink

Mark and Paul, I do have the fsx sdk cabdir.exe
I just don't know how to use it.

Mark, since you made the mod and if you know how to use the cabdir, can I just PM you the files to add them to the cab files. The text may be a little bigger than Org., but they should still be good to use. I figure you would want this to go with your mod. I would like to share with other users that use LBS.

Paul, I did make a dir called Captain_Sim.b757.oh and have only the 4 texture files in them, and they do override the org. 4 textures in the cab files. which is good.

Thanks,
Gabe

When you load your aircraft can you see the changes you've made to the overhead panel?

Would you consider uploading to captainsim.com? That would be very much appreciated, I am sure.

Who? Me? Sure.

I'm going to redo the the mod to include the images modified by Paul, as well as instructions AND a backup of the original Captain_Sim.b757.oh.cab file. After it's done, I can upload it to the CS 757 free liveries. It's probably better than RapidShare.
