VNAV Speed Maintain Problem

Hello,
I've got the 767 from captain sim and i absalutely love it but i have 1 problem and i really hate it! When i fly from KIAD to KJFK and i"ll have to start descending ( i reached the t/d) using vnav it will start to descent till 10000 feet then it will descent very slow due to the speed restriction. But when i reach 240 kts the aircraft keeps descending very slow and the engines provide 72 N1. So it maintains its speed by engine thrust and not by descending. After that i can't reach the airport and i will fly over it.
Please help me!
Thank you
PS: I already set the mcp altittude to the e/d altittude

I only have the CS 757, but they cockpits are very similar, as well as the FMC functions, so go to your legs page on the FMC (the LEGS button) and scroll through and see what the altitudes are for each waypoint after 10,000 feet, and you may have to manually enter in some of the altitudes, because it might stay at the same altidue until the last waypoint, if you have to, just turn off the VNAV and set the altitude by yourself, I never use the VNAV because it never works for me, I just infer on when a good altitude to descend is, which from FL350 to FL370 is usally about 150-163 miles out, and FL390 (the highest I ever fly) is about 165 miles out, and FL320-FL340 is about 130-145 miles out, all guess work for me

Once you start to line up with the ILS and GS (on the Attitude Director Indicator (ADI) Display), you need to press the LOC (#25), to capture the ILS and APP (#26) to capture the G/S (on the MCP (Autopilot) shown on the attached image), or the 767 will maintain the last altitude it descended to and is holding.

I just reread this and I see that you have a speed problem during approach as well. Sorry tI missed it. Have you pressed the SPD button on the MCP so you can control the speed of the aircraft?
Also, on the CDU, you need to press INIT REF button and select an approach setting FLAPS/SPEED, like 40/138 (example only, not actual). During approach I always add 5 knots to the VREF + any extra needed to compensate for the wind. So for the example I would be landing at 40/143 on a calm day (no wind).

The descent of the 767 is governed by the next altitude constraint in the route (altitude is in bold text on the CDU), or the altitude that you have set in the Altitude Indicator on the MCP (Autopilot). So if you have 10nm to lose 1000 feet, it will descent slower than if you have to descend 3000 feet in that 10nm.

Hope this helps.

Sorry but i think you don't understand. I have a problem while descending and not on approach. When the aircraft passes 10.000 ft it will keep descending very slow and it will not reach it's assigned alltitude as set in the legs page for the next waypoit. Also it maintains it's speed with a lot of engine thrust. While i have to descend! Ps; when i have this problem i descent from 11.000 ft to 5000ft. ( The 5000 was automaticly added by de CDU when i entered the cruising alltitude
Greetings

Have you press the SPD switch and how about the V/S( vertical speed ). Have you scroll to like -1800 to -2200( don't go more than -2200 or else you'll overspeed )  Smiley
