GPWS Warning

Hi. When i was performing an Autoland or Manual landing, The GPWS starts warning 'Sink Rate' and 'Pull Up'! It always goes off when I land in other airports. Can you please tell me how to switch it off? Huh

Its an FSX issue I believe, if you put more than a certain amount of power when landing it will start to say that, do an experiment, when you're landing and it says Sink Rate, reduce power slowly and you'll noticed it will stop, I dont think theres anyway to fix this

Where is the GPWS toggle on/ off switch? I'm new to CS and I haven;t found everything yet, I just noticed that the sink rate thing happens in most airplanes I fly (and the CS 757 is the first payware plane I flew, so it happens in freeware)

As far as I know, the GPWS is in FSX, not the CS757. I think to disable it, you need to edit or remove the [GPWS] section in the aircraft.cfg.

But that said, mine looks like this (the default setting):

;[GPWS]
;max_warning_height         =  1000
;sink_rate_fpm              = -1500
;excessive_sink_rate_fpm    = -2000
;climbout_sink_rate_fpm     = -100
;flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm= -100

so is not active anyway. So I don't know why you, or I, are still hearing it. Undecided

Well, I wouldnt call it an FSX issue, as this does not happen in other planes. Its clearly an issue with the CS757, and if this happens as a result of Captain Sim using default FSX features then they need to program this particular system manually, as the way it works now is nothing like how it is in real life. A plane would never have been allowed to be dispatched with the GPWS thats in the CS757, thats for sure

I have just done several flights in the CS 757 and I never heard the "don't sink" and "pull up" GPWS warnings once. Undecided

The one that gets me is the "glide slope, glide slope, glide slope" that I normally got during final approach on a lot of flights. And strangely enough, I haven't heard it lately either. Weird!

You have not gotten the Glide Slope warning, because your getting better at staying on the ILS! Grin

I have no issue with any of the CS planes with the GPWS except the "Don't Sink" which you should never get during landing since it is a takeoff warning only.

The only thing I can think of that may differ from what I did before, is to get into landing configuration (Vref +5 +extra for wind if needed) at about 5nm from the runway. The plane also used to drop below the GS, then regain it, but I'm not seeing that happen anymore either.

I still say it's weird! Tongue
