VOR Navigation

Hello,

I would like to fly the 757 using VOR to VOR navigation.  When tuning the glareshield Nav1 radio to the correct frequency and radial on manual mode, the pressing the LOC button and setting heading to intercept the radial, the aircraft simply flies right past the radial on the HSI.  Is it possible to use the AP LOC function to capture and track a VOR radial?

I have found that AP LOC will capture a VOR radial if entered in the ILS panel, but this does not seem to be the correct procedure since I am not actually following an ILS while in mid flight.

Thanks

Hi.

It is a lack in the 757/767 models that it cannot automatically track the radial from a VOR using the AP as most aircrafts can. You get some assistance from the HSI but that's the only thing. My recommandation is to use the FMC to intercept the radial like taking waypoint <VOR><radial>/10, <VOR><radial>/5, <VOR><radial>/2, and then using the VOR EFIS display, to get your on course if you are flying an approach.

If you are flying VOR-to-VOR the only way is to stick to the FMC.
