VOR Issues

Hey guys,
I got the CS 737 and love it. However, when I try to use VOR nav, the course line that is meant to align does not. I assumed that the VOR nav is the same(or familiar to) of that to the 707 and 727.
I switch the radios onto nav and press the VOR button and set the F/D onto VOR/LOC and A/P likewise, and the autopilot locates it, but does not fly to it, the F/D does not align, although he distance to it is available, and the backup VOR signs are fine.
Any help?
Pete

VOR lock works about 70% of the time for me. I'm usually on course before switching to VOR nav. Not sure what causes it not to engage, but going through the manual roll modes and back to VOR sometimes gets it to work.

Every time I have initialised the plane, the VOR never works.

That's really strange Pete! I've never had a problem with tracking a VOR. Undecided

Maybe it is just a reinstall. I'll try that, if not, I'll post a shot of what I mean.

Hi Pete.

After taking another look at your original post, it sounds very similar to something that another member and myself went through with the 727. The track from one VOR to another was at XXX degrees, but pressing NAV (to track that radial) on the A/P sent it away off to the left, THEN it would head towards the VOR we wanted to go to.

We ended up trying it in the default FSX aircraft as well as a few different 3rd Party addon aircraft, the result was always the same, so we put it down to a bug in FSX.

If you provide me with the VOR you are wanting to go to (along with the heading you are using), then I can try them out and see if it is the same problem.

Attempted with 727 and 707, reinstalled CS 737, no avail. I would like to add that the plane has found the radio, and I have attempted to align the course bit.
Here's a shot(I put the radios onto nav and all that  stuff):

Any particular reason for why you are nearly ninety (90) degrees off from the NAV course? Not only that, you are heading away from the radial instead of towards it.

Are you absolutely sure that the 737 is in NAV Mode and that it is definitely not in GPS Mode?

I thought this plane was all VOR. There's a GPS to VOR change button?!

Yes there is. It is on the forward panel just above the Marker Beacon Lights. See attached image. But I was actually thinking that your default flight might have the NAV-GPS Switch set on GPS Mode.

I did that, and strangely the VOR works, but now the F/D on First Officers and occasionally the Captain's side do not work.
I feel bad as I do not have time to read the manuals, but if there is a tutorial specific to this plane, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete

The F/D apparently has some issues with the LEDs which do not reflect correct arm/captured modes. I do not currently see this on the update list so I submitted a ticket. But if I'm not mistaken the FD does properly drive the ADI / FDI command bars.

The FD does drive the command bars as you say, but only for the HEADING select or for LOC/ILS approaches.  When selecting to track VOR it instead tracks heading bug.  Known problem.

Ah yes, that's right. Now I remember why I quit using it.
