HDG mode compatible with external add-on programs
Jun 4th, 2012 at 12:52pm
Print Post
Please make the HDG mode compatible so that external add-on programs such as FS Commander can take control over the heading function of the autopilot.

Second request is to add the Sperry 177 autopilot to the -ADV.

Kind regards,

It's not going to happen. See this Topic and Poll here: Poll: FSX default hdg to be used by a third party addon?
Your best bet might be to use a registered version of FSUIPC along with LINDA.

THanks for your information! I didn't find that topic, sorry. I see now that the CWS has been coupled on the HDG. It's a pitty that HDG won't work with my FS Commander. Oh well...

Sorry. For same strange reason, I did not realize that it was for FS Commander. It's probably because I always call it FSC (I have FSC 9.2). A registered version of FSUIPC and LINDA will not help with FSC either. Sorry.

There is a switch on the glare shield that cann be switched to make the 737 follow an FS Flight Plan. I often save my FSX Flight Plans and load them into FSX. These work fine with the 737. Then you just use FSC to track the flight plan. You can still access the GPS Window for all the info you need, you just can't use the GPS Window as an autopilot.

I still think it was a bad decision from CS to disable this future, if you are on Vatsim or Ivao and atc ask you to direct to you will not been able.

I use the default GPS all of the time to fly direct to waypoints. I can't remember if I added the FSX GPS to the panel.cfg file or if it came that way. But once it's added just press the DIRECT button and dial in the waypoint and activate it. With the NAV/GPS in the GPS mode select NAV on the A/P and it should follow directly to the waypoint.

Well there was poll and the majority opted to have it as it was designed with the CWS mode. Weather you agree or disagree, it is the way it is. I hope you can still fly online as I do, I just say "unable, I need a vector please". I know because I am also a Vatsim controller and it is not against any code to request vectors nor can any controller demand you go to a direct heading.

A poll based on 40 vote wow this are number.
FSX database yes very up to date.
In any case there was a solution to let maintain the two solution CWS and HDG.
Now if someone ask for future I don't see why you have to disagree.
I hope the next upcoming Tinmouse will have this future I really hope.

This is not the forum for other modelers, this is for Captain Sim.

Who's fault is it that only 42 people bothered to vote? I voted.

In my post replies, there was no mention of not being able to make requests in this forum. I first told you why the HDG is only set up with CWS and another post I asked you not to mention other developers in your post.
Please explain where you were told to STOP MAKING REQUESTS. Captain sim explained to everyone about the HDG mode, it was one or the other. So there was a poll,  Like Markoz, I voted too.

I was there to vote as well. This is not an aircraft to be flown by "external programs", that's highly unrealistic and would completely spoil this 737. I was actually shocked to find a GPS in the release, i removed it immediately as it was causing me shivers.

The new 777 also "features" a GPS, i hope it gets removed and we never hear about it again †Lips Sealed

Sorry if i sound harsh, i did start flying with a GPS and default aircraft, but after you learn about aviation and have over 4000 online flying hours with "real" controllers, you quickly learn to forget how you USED to fly †Wink

Trust me, this 737 is far more fun without all that GPS and FSC stuff. Just charts, VOR radios and ADF. Yummy!

In my opinion there should be the option to turn the CWS off and therefore make the HDG bug available to external programs (or find a way to accomplish both- but I guess this won't happen).
For me this would affect the Civa INS, others may like to simulate retrofitted models which are still in service today.
This is a harsh limitation, if I had read about this earlier I wouldn't have bought it at all.
