Two questions: How do you check what version you have of CS 777..sure I have 1.71..but not sure lol.. and second question...Captain Sims webpage comes up reminding me to get 1.71..How do I disable this. I have windows 7 x64...Any ideas.
Thanks. Cheesy

Go to Menu > Aircraft > Select Aircraft, and highlight one of the CS 777's, then select DETAILS at the bottom of the screen, and the version is shown in there. It should say 1.7, even if you have v1.71 installed.

Strange problem today.  Flying the 777 from Memphis to New Orleans KMEM-KMSY.  Cruise altitude is FL340.  After 18,000 feet, I switch to standard pressure 29.92, continue up to 340.   Once there, ATC (FSX-SE built-in) is telling me I am too low, at FL335 and that I need to climb to 340.  But I'm at 340 with STD set for altimeter.

Not having this issue with any other aircraft that I know of.

Are you flying with real-world weather, or one of the weather themes, for the flight?

When I tested the 777 for the problem with the barometric setting (of which your problem might also be a part of), I used a weather theme, not real-world weather, nor Active Sky Next, for the test, and I rarely use the ATC in FSX, so I didn't use that either.

Thanks, Mark.  I am running Active Sky 2016 in live real-world weather mode for weather.   I did the same flight immediately afterwards in the CS Tristar, and had no problem.

Just bought 777.  Pilot seat is so far forward that I can't see portions of main panel or pedestal.   I've tried to find forward/back lever without success.

Any help would be appreciated because I can't fly until I move the seat back.

Open the aircraft.cfg (I use Notepad), and go to the [Views] section.
You will find the following entry:

[Views]
eyepoint=95.5,-1.8, 2.66

Change the 95.5, as it is the distance forward of the centre of the model along the Z axis.
Start of by changing it by a single decimal place (95.4, 95.3, 95.2, etc.), then change by a 2nd decimal place (95.45, 95.44, 95.43, etc.), and finally, to set a really fine setting, changing it by a 3rd decimal place (95.455, 95.456, 95.457, etc.). Eventually, you will end up with the etepoint (cockpit view) in a position to your liking.

I usually add two slashes "/" in front of the original setting so that I know what the original settnig was:

eyepoint=95.456,-1.8, 2.66       //95.5,-1.8, 2.66

So if I mess it up, I can start again!

Raising/lowering the eypoint, change the 2nd set of numbers (-1.8)
Moving the eyepoint left/right, change the 3rd set of numbers (2.66)

Distances are in feet, not metres!

Be careful not to go too far backwards, or you will put the eyepoint in the seat back, or headrest.
If that happens, the VC buttons/switches/knobs will become inaccessible by the mouse!

Hello, I bought the 777 for FSX Steam from simmarket.com, but I can’t install it.
My issue is fairly large so i’ll try to summarise it as best as I can. I’ll also mention that I am using Windows 10.

I downloaded the base-pack installer but whenever I attempt to initiate the download it causes my computer to freeze for about 30 seconds before I get a blue screen crash that reads "your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you”

Restarting the computer causes the same crash to happen again after around 30 seconds after logging back in.

Booting in safe mode works, but I am immediately greeted with the on screen message “This app can’t open: Tips can't be opened by the Built-in Administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again.”

After dismissing the error message and deleting the installer, my computer is back to normal.

This has me totally baffled and i’ve been trying to solve it for around 24 hours now, I have already tried the following:

- Updating drivers
- Updating Java
- Re-downloading installer numerous times from different links, including a direct link from here on captainsim.com
- Deleting any recent and/or unnecessary programs
- Installing the aircraft in safe mode (This allowed me to fully install the aircraft, I restarted the computer normally, booted up FSX, selected the 777 and it crashed as soon as I clicked on it, and continued to cause crashes until I uninstalled it.
- Desperately trying to find what “Tips” is and why it’s trying to run (couldn’t find anything)
- Installed a second, completely seperate FSX aircraft from the same website, it worked perfectly fine (Installed okay, ran in the game, no issues)
- Searched a lot of possible solutions to both the errors I had been receiving, but most including re-installing Windows 10 and/or editing critically important files (Which I figured was pointless since my computer worked fine unless I was actively trying to use this particular installer)

I’ve run out of ideas and it’s now 3am. So any help is appreciated. Honestly at this point if it doesn’t work then I really just want my money back, but sim market don’t do refunds and I can’t imagine this place does either.

A suggestion to try, but I don't know if it will solve your problem.

Login to Your Profile > Product > Extended Download Service > Get New Links

Download the file from the Captain Sim website. Turn your Anti-Virus software, or its shields, OFF before downloading and installing (your AV might be corrupting the file).

I’ll give it a shot, but I need to say that where I am it’s about to be the last weekend of the school holidays and the internet traffic here is crazy. I can only download stuff at around 30kb/s so it’s gonna take a few hours until I can get back to you.

I had previously already tried getting a new link from my profile, and I even tried downloading the installer on a completely different computer and transferring it with a usb stick, but I still got the same errors.

Some Anti-Virus programs will "repair" a file (remove the virus from within the file) if it's running as you transfer the files from a flash drive to the HDD. Sometimes the AV software sees something in the Captain Sim addons installer, even though it isn't a virus. If an installer needs to access the registry, which the Captain Sim 777 Base Pack does need to do, can be seen as a virus, so it will block it, or even remove the file that is installed, that it considers is a threat. This protects your computer, which is exactly what you want/need it to do, but if a "false threat" is found, which sometimes happens with the Captain Sim addon installers, then it can stop it from performing/functioning like it's supposed to.

Another thing that I have done with my AV software (Avast free), is add the locations of where I save the Captain Sim installers, AND where FSX, FSX-SE, P3Dv2, and P3Dv3, are installed, to the exclusions list. It never scans those folders. I also disable the Avast shields when installing them as a safety precaution.

Something worth considering, is to make sure that FSX is not installed in its default location. Install it in the root C: Drive (i.e. C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X), or on another partition (i.e. D:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X), which is even better. I have mine installed in J:\Flight Simulator X.

Okay so the download finally finished and with my antivirus software disabled I managed to actually begin the install, and there was no slow down or lag like I had previously experienced.
But when it finished installing and I clicked the “finish” button, my computer immediately froze and I got the same error again. Just booted in safe mode and got the same error from before, and again I had to delete the files to get my computer back to normal...

I’m now completely out of ideas and i’m very annoyed with this, it’s been wasting a lot of my time.

If you have any more ideas i’ll give them a shot but i’ll have to download the files AGAIN which will take hours. I think I may just try to get a refund at this point. Sim Market who I bought it from say they don’t do refunds, but this product just WILL NOT work, and I really don’t understand why. I’ve downloaded numerous add-ons and payware aircraft in the past and never had an issue this big.

I spoke with Sim Market about refund possibilities. They seem to be happy to give me one as long as I can prove that Captain Sim doesn’t have a solution for my problem.

Like I said before i’ve wasted a lot of time with this already and have surfed through most of the other information on this site that may help me.

But if you have any good ideas for a solution then let me know, if not then at least say you don’t know, if there’s nothing else I can do then i’ll take a screen grab of this convo as “evidence” and send it to sim market. It’s weird I know, but that’s what they’re asking for.
