I want to encourage any flight simmer to try out using the Oculus Rift DK2 (CV1 is next year) with CS777 and FlyInside which works with FSX or P3D. The appearance of the VC is amazing and the Asynchronous Time Warp feature helps keep the apparent FPS fairly high and smooth on a 4.2 Ghz CPU with Nvidia 660ti or better. The ability to look all around you - lean toward a window and look at the scenery - look for the end of the runway on downwind, etc.. - is very real. The feeling of really being in a 777 pilot seat is terrific.
The only issue that would be nice to work with Captain Sim's help is to have a way to pick a knob or switch with the mouse and then lock to it so that we could then click it or run the middle mouse wheel and then release it. When you have to access the objects only from the pilot's eyepoint, it gets difficult even when you lean toward it. Also, it would be helpful to have a way to at least temporarily increase the radius of the clickspot. Of course, sometimes from the pilot's eyepoint, it is difficult to avoid picking the wrong thing when for example the object is underneath the glareshield and the MCP is in the way.
Even with these issues, the CS777 shines above the other 777 products for the reality of the cockpit appearance (I have the P..G as well) and just will impress you. Make sure you find a friend with a DK2 (price = $350) - and run it at the highest resolution.

I'm currently saving up for the Oculus Rift DK2, but it will be the end of the year before I get it.

What is Oculus Rift CV1, and should I wait for it.

NOTE. I looked up the website, and saw

Step into the Rift
Q1 2016

on the RIFT page. I assumed this is the release time for the product (not for another DK version).

The CV1 will have about 25% more pixels and will have 3D audio headphones - but it will still have an HDMI cable coming from your PC. Price is unknown and actual release date is sometime first quarter. Save your pennies!

Thanks Dave. It also looks like I'll need a GTX970 graphics card, so that will add to the amount that I'll need to save up. Sad

Well, I'm using a 660ti right now with acceptable results but I agree that an upgrade to at least a 970 might improve the fps some and a higher level of Antialiasing might be possible.

I wanted to ask all the Virtual Cockpit users (which should be most all of you) whether my idea of "locking on to a clickspot - especially for a knob on the MCP or center panel would help - maybe a double quick "left-click" or something (and again later to unlock) so that we wouldn't have to be so careful not to move the mouse cursor while we adjust desired heading/altitude/airspeed/lighting/frequencies...

OR is there something like that already?

Hi. I think I have a problem with the VC-lighting. When I try to turn on the Floodlight for the MCP an Glareshield only the "lamp"-textures get bright. The panel itself stays dark.
While the Master-Brightness is on, all panels get lit. I use FSX:SE and Win10 and it makes no change if I use DX10 preview or not.

Hi there,

Just a couple of minor nits with the some of the interior "textures" wording in the VC:

On the underside of the side tables (pilot's side table shown):
Last line; "FLIGHT" is misspelled "FLIGTH"
sabretooth78.east.freepgs.com/FSX/2016-11-26_15-15-16-374.jpg

On the pedestal between the jump seats:
Last line; "Fasten" should [probably?] be "Fastened"
sabretooth78.east.freepgs.com/FSX/2016-11-26_15-15-37-904.jpg

(I can't post pictures or links yet, apparently - please cut and paste - they're safe, I promise!)

Naturally these are just minor little visual bugs that don't really affect anything - take them as you will!

Thanks!

I have the same problem for all of the panel lighting. The lights under the dash top light up but don't cast any light on the panel. Even the radio flood light (which does cast light) gets too dark towards (and including) the throttles.

I keep looking for my flashlight!

Interesting searching here that early on there were complaints the VC was too bright.  Mine is almost completely dark at night.  Exactly as Rick M experiences. My VC at at night looks nothing remotely like this:
