A slightly different sound issue

Hi all,

Yet another cockpit sound related post I'm afraid. I've plopped the msvcr71.dll into my Prepar3d root directory, I load the aircraft and door sounds and switch sounds etc work BUT when i turn on the battery, all sounds disappear! I then turn the battery back off and the sounds still are no longer there.

707 and 737 sounds work fine with prepar3d.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

M

Gents it appears there is a MS fix for sounds generally is that correct? (msvcr71.dll refers).

The other changes to the sound.ini - which one and where is that particular file?

Just asking to clarify, the 727 sounds not loading properly with start up or loading the aircraft into FSX has driven me nuts from day one.

Help and clarification appreciated thanks guys.

As far as i know, msvcr71.dll is a part of MS NET or  C++ lib. Why it should be put into FSX folder remains unclear, but since it not affect other aircrafts, it may be wrong procedure call in some 727 gauge file, or something like that. in win7 x64 i dont have this file at all, so i had to download it from my old winXP

sound.ini - that may be just a typo CS made, or just a part of upper, more serious problem.

i got this set instead of default:

SoundOffWhenSimIsSlew=0
SoundOffWhenSimIsPaused=0
SoundOffWhenSimDialogIsOpen=0
SoundOffWhenSimSoundIsOff=1

file itself located in e:\games\fsx\Captain_Sim\727\sound.ini

double loading of aircraft still required.

There is a fix by CoolP using 707 gau file,  and it works from the first load, but some other problems with switches state, windows open etc. still require double load the saved flight.

Windplayer, what I suspected, I run a Win  7 64 bit system and have no XP (I went from Win98 to Win 7 on my home PC due to a fascination with Linux) so no chance of having the dll file, probably find a copy on the net somewhere but I think it probably will not really fix the scripting with the 727.

Wild card call but I think the sound issue is not a sound problem but a gauge issue and for some reason for some gauges the programming call for the wav does not happen until it is reloaded.

Anyway, heres hoping for a Capt Sim fix one day. In the meantime I will leave things as they are, safer that way, at least I know what problem is causing what at the moment.

Hi CoastalDriver.

I have Windows 7 64bit and I found the msvcr71.dll in my C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder. Maybe it depends on what 3rd party addons you use in FSX as to whether it is installed or not.
