Plane selection list...not showing
Apr 23rd, 2012 at 3:44pm
Print Post
For some reason some of the planes show when Captain Sim is selected and others only show when Boeing is selected, anyone have a clue why?

Do you have the "show all variations" option selected in the lower right area of the aircraft selection screen?  Captain Sim aircraft are best displayed when you select "commercial airliner" under the aircraft type.

Salut JayG ! Ca fait longtemps !

Very strange bug... Try to uninstall all and be sure that all CS_7XX folder are deleted on the SimObjects/planes

Delete the file called CaptainSIM on the MS FSX directory and then

Reinstall all

Question. Are those ones showing when you select Captain Sim from the Publishers list? They should. Everything looks identical to mine and I see mine there.

If the above is true, check to see if the ones missing under Captain Sim have this line:

ui_createdby=Captain Sim

They all have thumbnails and all the above are the ones that do not show under Captain Sim, only when Boeing is selected. Very weird stuff and typical of me and computers   Smiley

Sorry. I meant for the 737-200 and not for the others.
So what I really would like to see (from the 737-200 aircraft.cfg) are:

[fltsim.1], [fltsim.2], [fltsim.4] and any that come after [fltsim.8] if you have them. Wink

In the list above, the one that has all the aircraft that DO NOT show up when you Captain Sim from the Publishers' list, is it ALL the 737-200's that do not appear? Or are the a few 737-200's that do show up in the list?

So you can't show me these three ([fltsim.1], [fltsim.2], [fltsim.4]) from the aircraft.cfg because they don't exist?
If the order does not go [fltsim.0], [fltsim.1], [fltsim.2], [fltsim.3] etc. all the way to [fltsim.8], in numerical order, then any missing numbers "breaks the chain", so to speak, and therefore they are not seen.

Here is my list from my aircraft.cfg:

JayG,

Your reply # 12 shows the last two models as:

[fltsim.0]
title=CS 737-200ADV Captain Paint0
sim=csx732
......................
......................
......................
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200ADV Expansion model) v1.1\n(c) 2012 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

and;

[fltsim.0]
title=CS 737-200F Captain Paint0
sim=csx733
........................
........................
........................
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200F Expansion model) v1.0\n(c) 2012 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

I think the right numbering would be [fltsim.5] and [fltsim.6].

Pinatubo.

Hi Pinatubo.

They are from two different aircraft.cfg's. One is from the 737-200ADV Expansion Model and the other is from the 737-200F Expansion Model, so it is okay for them to shown as [fltsim.0].

Hi Pinatubo.

They are from two different aircraft.cfg's. One is from the 737-200ADV Expansion Model and the other is from the 737-200F Expansion Model, so it is okay for them to shown as [fltsim.0].

Mark

Sorry Mark,

But your config shows [fltsim.5] and [fltsim.6]. Undecided

Hi Pinatubo.

In my quote from you, I have highlighted some important info I think you missed.

JayG,

Your reply # 12 shows the last two models as:

[fltsim.0]
title=CS 737-200ADV Captain Paint0
sim=csx732
......................
......................
......................
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200ADV Expansion model) v1.1\n(c) 2012 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

and;

[fltsim.0]
title=CS 737-200F Captain Paint0
sim=csx733
........................
........................
........................
ui_typerole=Commercial Airliner
ui_createdby=Captain Sim
description=737 Captain (737-200F Expansion model) v1.0\n(c) 2012 Captain Sim www.captainsim.com

I think the right numbering would be [fltsim.5] and [fltsim.6].

Pinatubo.

Both of those that you listed are different Models. The first is the 737-200ADV and the second is the 737-200F. So is correct that both use [fltsim.0]

All of the ones I listed were from my 737-200 aircraft.cfg.

read #2 and #3 at http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1334974243

and install from a scratch.

Okay Mark.

You're right. I didn't pay attention that all listed models were 200.

No joy, same thing. I just now installed only the 200 base pack after deleting everything first, including folders left over after running the uninstallers.

All the planes show up under "Boeing-All" but not under 'Captain Sim' in the plane selection screen.

Have you tried selecting "commercial airliner" under the "aircraft type" dropdown list?

No, never had to, but I just tried that, no difference. I guess I'll just live with it, it's not a show stopper, Im used to weird stuff happening ONLY to me on puters  Smiley

If you want to, you can zip all your 737 aircraft.cfg's and email them to me, and I'll see if I can spot something that might be causing this problem.

Apr 28th, 2012 at 5:24pm: So far, I can't see any reason as to why they don't show up under Captain Sim when you select it! This is one very strange issue

When you uninstalled, did you make sure to go in your FSX directory and delete all CS 737 folders?  There should be one in the "simobjects" folder under the aircraft or airplane subfolder, not sure what the name is.  There may also be one in the FSX root directory.

Hi Jay.

I scrutinized the aircraft.cfg's that you sent me. I can't see anything wrong, so it must be something in your FSX. It is one very strange problem if ever I saw one. Undecided

Over time, I will look at them (again and again) just to see if I might have missed something. If I ever find out, I'll be as pleased as punch! LOL

FSX can do strange things. For instance, today, my FSX has decided that it would not show landing and taxi lights on the ground. The setting was still set to show them, but it has just decided not to. So I turned it off, went back to FSX, and it then shows them on the ground. Shocked
So I turned the setting back on again, and they were showing like they should. For a minute there, I was worried the setting was going to be reversed somehow.

FSX sure can be a strange beast at times. Undecided
