ALT > Views > Instrument Panel > Weapon Panel

You can only fire the weapons when airborne! I tried.

Is advanced animation ON?

If not, ALT > Options > Settings > Display > Graphics and make sure that Advanced animations has  a tick (checkmark) is in the box.

I have the opposite problem:  the M61 fires and muzzle flash and sound start, but muzzle flash won't stop even with gun on safe and master off.
The L60 and M102 make the correct sounds and stop when they should but no muzzle flash.  I haven't flown the AC-130 in a long time but I thought I remembered that these 2 guns had muzzle flash.

When I use them:

The M61's have muzzle flash and smoke.
The L60 has muzzle flash and tracers.
The M102 only has the muzzle flash AND the rudder kicks left from the recoil of the cannon.

Hmm, I wonder what's up with my gunship, not getting the muzzle flashes or rudder kick  from the 60s and 102s (I get muzzle flash and smoke from the M61s only).  I guess I'll do an uninstall/reinstall since that is the most common solution to FSX problems.  Thanks for the response, Mark, so at least I know what I'm missing.

I have played with it quite a bit because of my trying to complete the Weapon for FSX mod for the AC-130, up until the 737 showed up.

I still have to finish it. Every time I respond to a question in here I feel guilty for neglecting it and not getting it finished yet. Sad

Hi Mark,
Don't feel guilty about anything--you provide so much assistance to so many of us, that's enough.  My reinstall didn't change anything, the animations are still intermittent.  The sound and muzzle flash of the M61 are synchronized sometimes, other times not and the muzzle flash stays on for a minute or so after the fire button is released.  On one occasion I had muzzle flash, recoil and smoke from the L60, most of the time sound and recoil only.  The M102 makes the sound and recoil everytime but never muzzle flashes or smokes.  I'll get into the config file and trace back to the effects and audio files for each animation and see if I can find the problem.
