My FSX CS Fleet Flypast

Captain Sim frequently (and very kindly) sponsor screenshot contests at New Zealand Flightsim Forums (NZFF).

I've just won this month's and Captain Sim have very kindly deferred my prize till the new CS B737 is out, so by way of a thank you I thought I'd display my CS fleet - that started with the award-winning C-130 (still one of my all-time favourites).

The link to the post is here: http://nzff.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=17330&view=findpost&p=8305749.

A big thank you to Captain Sim for my prize - and for all the wonderful aircraft I've enjoyed all these years.

Adamski.

Congrats Adamski. I'm sure that you will love your prize. I'm sure I will too (I won mine in the "guess the next Captain Sim project" comp in this forum).

Those pics are fantastic.

Thanks! I won one of the previous ones - the "Weapon" one. Sadly, it brought my PC to its knees Sad

Ouch! Sad
My computer has no trouble at all with Weapon for FSX. Mind you, I don't know your computer specs. The 707 is the one that makes my computer work hard.

I've since upgraded my system, but haven't got round to re-installing "Weapon". Did it ever get patched/upgraded ... I must check!

The 707 works OK on my [new] system ... so that sounds promising for "Weapon".

Looking at those pics, it is no surprise that he won the competition, is it. I still marvel at them every time I see them! Smiley

Thanks! But the thing I won the competition with that month was actually a P-51 in a low pass over NZWP. The "theme" was any *default* MS aircraft over any freeware NZ scenery". If you visit the topic at NZFF you'll see the resulting banner in action. Weird thing is, I don't like the Mustang at all .

My "flypast" was just a "thank you" to CS, as it's customary to show off your "prize" after you get it. In this case, the prize-giving has been put back for the B737 .. so expect another raft of screenshots soon(ish)!

When I look at pic #2, I find it surprising that so few airlines paint anything on the *underneath* of their aircraft. Most military aircraft have roundels, emblems ... what have you ... yet commercial airliners (which are often viewed from below) have very little <?>.

Those are some amazing shots--CS could use them for promotional stuff.

Did you use FSRecorder to get them all in the same shot? It must have been interesting trying to get all those planes to fly at the same speed...

Fair enough. I'll head over there to take a look.

I knew that. I just assumed that they were the pics that won the prize.

Yes - FSrecorder - which can be a bit "fiddly" to set up. The trick is to make sure that the aircraft you use to make the primary flight with a speed that all the aircraft can subsequently follow. In this case, between 200 and 250 knots.

As for the x/y co-ordinates, I found it easier to start off with them all at zero (all aircraft super-imposed), then move each one out in turn.  It takes a bit of time, but it's great fun!

It's actually not a bad way of taking screenshots anyway, as you can set a route through some nice geography, then sit back in outside view and snap away!

Adam.

I just downloaded my prize  Smiley Grin Cool ... so I'll be reflying that formation with a B737-100, a B737-200 ... and the poor old B777 that I forgot I had! I'd left it in the hangar, waiting for the "systems upgrade".

It makes a total of NINE aircraft ... which is neat, as it'll make a perfect diamond or arrow formation. This could take a little while Wink

Thank you, Tania and all at CS Smiley
