Trim AP question

1st question. When I have the Alt Hold for the AP engaged, does the AP automatically trim the aircraft, I only ask because if the AP is engaged at a specific Altitude, I am still able to use the trim wheel up or down, but as far as I can tell it just makes the pitch swing up and down until it re-stabilizes. So is it true that once you have the AP alt hold engaged you can't trim due to the AP automatically setting the trim pitch?

2nd question, if I have the AP holding an altitude, am I able to set a pitch angle for climb or decent on AP while still keeping the AP engaged?  (i.e. 1500 fpm)

Just want to make sure that I am doing this right. I hope the AP automatically trims the aircraft with Alt Hold.

Thanks! Smiley

sure it trims plane Smiley no need to use trim wheel with AP engaged. Use AP trim knob instead.
if you want to climb or descend on AP, just disengage ALT HOLD mode, and use AP trim knob to set plane's attitude. this + power you set will give you desired speed and vertical speed.

Thanks so much for the clarification, I was pretty sure the AP automatically trimmed, but I wanted to make sure since the aircraft oscillated so much when touching the trim wheel on AP  Wink

By "trim knob" do you mean the round knob on the AP panel that you can set bank angle and also has the pitch rocker switch on the same knob?

Thanks again Smiley
