IRS Fail alignment

Just did a fresh install of CS757 for FS9 (v2.2), and I get a 'FAIL' when setting the IRS for alignment.  Is there any connection with FSUIPC (with which I am having a problem)?

I saw this happen on FSX v. 4.2, and there, a direct reinstall fixed the problem.

Any ideas?

Did you first input your GPS location into the FMC? Plus, did you turn all 3 knobs to 'ALIGN' and wait for the lights to go out and then turn them to NAV?
