CS757 v4.6 TOD and Fuel prediction

Hi guys,

I must be doing something wrong.  Since updating to v4.6, my FMC no longer computes TOD, and its calculations on required fuel are exaggerated until it gets into Cruise mode.

The TOD is very annoying, as the acft no longer has any intention of descending.  I have to manage the descent manually using V/S etc.

UPDATE: It is now randomly showing and then dropping TOD data and calculations as per the two shots below.  One minute it has TOD then it drops.

RTE PAGE TOD and then drops it

DISPLAY shows the TOD then it drops

I can do fuel calculations, and yet the FMC says 'Insufficient Fuel' until I get into the Cruise and it seems to recalculate correctly.

Any ideas please.

Are you removing or changing any of the information (speed/altitude constraints) in the STAR or TRANS? Doing that, I am likely to see what you are seeing with regards to the TOD missing completely, but not there one moment, gone the next. I did encounter the latter problem in v4.5. Never in v4.6.

Hey Mark,

So far I have not been able to get any TOD since upgrading to v4.6, except for las night enroute to YPDN.  I decided to manually enter all the vertical restrictions and speeds, in an attempt to force it to descend.  This was the first time I've had TOD albiet for a brief period on and off.

Once I started he descent, the Profile kept changing to match the FMC.  So it would be a nice even descent, then when the descent data dropped, it would say I was xxxx feet below planned path, and change the ROD.

Is it possible to go back to 4.5 somehow?

Why not try doing a Flight level change (press FLTCH button) so that you get a better controlled descent.
Or. Have you tried the DES NOW in the FMS/CDU - VNAV - DES page? Either of those might help with getting a better result.

Other than that, you could try deleting the SimObjects\Airplanes\CS_B757-200 folder, then reinstall selecting the option to repair. This might help sort it out. It really sounds like the installation isn't 100% right.

If you like, you can provide the details of your flight to YPDN, and I'll try it myself and see if I have the same problem.

Mark

Mark, I just flew YPDN - WADD.

The fuel calculation was working this time, and the descent worked til half way down when it again started dropping in and out.  So I disconnected VNAV and manually handled the last 20,000'.

On landing, I have re-run the 757-4600 nd then updated navigraph, and lastly ran the ACE.

I won't know until my flight tomorrow WADD - PGUM whether this has fixed it.  I hope it has.
