727-100 Static Thrust

Does anyone know what  the real thrust was in the 727-100.  My 727 seemed grossly under powered, many time unable to climb above FL300 with 120k TOW. I upped the thrust from 15,500 to 17,400 as I read this was the range in the real life 727. I want to keep the plane true to life as possible and can not verify that 17,400 was the ever even used. Does anyone know the answer to this? BTW, at 17,400 lbs. she handles like a dream.

The original 727-100 static thrust was 15500, as far as I know. I have stuck with that in the -100.

But in the -200, I do use 17400, because it get is much worse than the -100 if I use 15500. Sad

Thanks Mark. Did you change the thrust specific fuel consumption or fuel flow gain when you added the additional thrust? It's amazing the difference 1900 lbs. of thrust makes.

Add another zero and you're the first supersonic 727.  Cheesy

Nope. I just increased the thrust. Once I start playing with the fuel consumption, I wreak havoc on the planes performance! Grin

I can't!  Roll Eyes

Looking for an alternative now and a supersonic 727 looks nice.  Cheesy

Awaiting screenshots at 70.000ft.  Cheesy
That thrust should also help a bit on short fields.  Cool

I'm always up for fun and adventure. I'll give it a try and report back, unless my plane disintegrates first.

I tried it with 155,000 lbs of thrust. It's a rocket ship and overspeeds with the throttle on idle when in level flight! I went to 60,000 feet! Cheesy

I remember seeing your memorable flight test. Three turbines Pratt & Whitney JT8D-155000 taking off at Mach 2 and the fuselage and wings of a wrecked B727X, still stopped on the runway, surrounded by fire, smoke and sparks. It was an awesome flight.Shocked Shocked Shocked...or most probable a nightmare!!! Grin Grin Grin

What was really funny when I did the first super flight, was I got so fast (speed) so fast (time) that after I took off I couldn't raise the gear because I was way past the VLO and had wrecked them! There I was at FL500 with my gear still down. I was still flying at 300+KIAS. The next flight was the one I mentioned above! Smiley

I'll put 155,000 in mine and the next time the Vatsim controllers comment of my lack of climb performance I'll let them have it.   Wink

You might be in for a surprise then. When I set my thrust to 155,000, as soon as I released the parking brake, she started heading off in a big hurry! With my throttles still in the stop position! Cheesy

Grin Lol, you guys are nuts!  Grin

While you actually are, does the change also affect the reverse thrust?
