Problem with Cockpitview - new one doesn't show up

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some help on adding a new VC cockpit view to the 727-100. I am trying to add a new view which focuses on the APU panel.

I tried adding/inserting one new Camera.Definition.00x section after the FE view using the same GUID as the one defined for the Flight Engineer but this cockpit view will not show at all.It seems to skip this view completely.

I am editing the aircraft.cfg file for the 727-100.What am I missing here?

thx
Mark

Every CameraDefinition needs its own GUID. So that's why, when using the same one as another CameraDefinition is using, you can only see the first one. I have a GUID creator installed on my computer, but I can't always find it, so when that happens, I go to this website: http://www.guidgenerator.com/ to get them.

Hi Mark,

Thx for the info.  Wink

That info helped to solve some of the issues, but it did not solve the problem entirely... but now it is fixed! I will explain below....

  • The way I got this this to work is to use the GUID generator you provided to obtain a new GUID for the new camera section
  • then copy the existing Flight Engineer camera section but then re-number it [CameraDefinition.7]
  • then replace the original GUID with the the new GUID
  • For some reason using the title [CameraDefinition.007] like the other VC cockpit views did not work.
  • Once re-numbered/re-named ("APU View") I was then able adjust the Initialxyz and InitialPbh parameters to obtain the correct view.

Now with this setup the FE has an additional view to monitor the APU and the AUX panel at the same time. Smiley

Below is a snapshot of the settings in my aircraft.cfg of the CameraDefinition section and attached a screenshot of the new APU/AUX view. I hope this helps others out wanting to do a similar thing.

Thx for your help with the GUID. That was very helpful.

Going by what you pasted in you reply (if it is in the order you actually have it in the aircraft.cfg), then I think that the reason for it not showing is because you put the [CameraDefinition.007] (and [CameraDefinition.7]) BETWEEN [CameraDefinition.005] and [CameraDefinition.006], instead of adding it AFTER [CameraDefinition.006].

OR. Is there another [CameraDefinition.007] AFTER [CameraDefinition.006] still, which would give you two instances of [CameraDefinition.007], which won't work.

Hi Mark,

Yes it is in the order I showed. I couldn't get the new view to work at all by using [CameraDefinition.007]. It didn't seem to matter where I put this new section (in the middle or at the end of CameraDefinition.00x sections in the aircraft.cfg file). The only way I got it to display the new view was using [CameraDefinition.7] as the header for the section and then I positioned that section in the list of related views where it made most sense. Really weird!

Regards
Mark
