EPR auto take off not working
Aug 29th, 2011 at 5:45pm
Print Post
Hi,
Been doing fine programming FMC and using the EPR button on the MPC for doing auto- takeoff. Everything works as expected. Now,all of a sudden when I use I press the EPR button the throttle levers move up and down and will not sustain take off thrust. It's analogous to the foot on and off the gas pedal of a car. T/O thrust is set, auto throttle engaged, and the FMC says complete. I haven't been doing anything different from the times it was working just fine. . Any ideas here?

Hello, I noticed this a while ago... the EPR will set the thrust but the levers will go down causing your RTO autobrake to activate. I always N1 +- 80% manually, engage the EPR and then I have no problem.

Fixed the problem. I reset the V-speeds in the FMC and its working once more. Don't even have to manually apply any throttle. I don't know how its supposed to work in real life but that how mine works ( for now). I push the EPR button and it sails right down the runway and into the air. Quirky stuff I'd say.

I think that in real life, you are supposed to manually push the throttle levers to 80% N1, THEN engage the Autothrottle. However, I just press the EPR button and let it control the throttles from the start. The main reason I do that is because when I used to press the EPR button AFTER I had throttled up to 80%, if I pulled the throttles back to idle, the Autothrottle would stop working until I returned the throttle levers up to MAX.

I'm glad you got the problem fixed. Smiley

Will have to re-try this one as every time I've used it I always end up manually using the throttle!!

Thanks guys,

Strange! I just sit at the start of the runway and press the EPR button, without touching the throttles, and away she goes. Huh

Very, because I used to do the exact way you are doing it. But all of sudden it stoped working. Now the lights are all messed up. I think it is because I installed the shockwave lights 3D. Any updates?

Thanks,

Now, sometimes I have to go up to 80-85% N1 before it will work properly and other times I just set the throttle to idle and it works. It varies from day to day. Pay attention to how you have your throttles set when opening up the 767. Some day's if the levers are pushed all the way forward before opening the program, N1 will reflect idle, and I push the EPR button and off it goes.  But then other times if the program opens with throttles pushed all the way forward I'll get 100+% on N1. I can't figure this thing out. There's not a lot of consistency. If in real life you're expected to set throttles manually to 80% then I guess that's the way it should be. Does the manual give any answers here? If so I missed it.

Very strange issue. I always use [EPR] button without need to move throttle levers and it always works.
