I am experiencing a major porblem with FSX.
FSX is not starting. I am getting the follwing error:

FSX.exe application
Faulty module path: FSX/Simpeop.dll

1-until 4 am., several times I utilized FSX REPAIR and Accelleration Repair. No start

2-I deleted Simprop.dll and paste new  Simprop.dll to FSX. No start

3- Deleted Flight Simulator flight plan  Log.Bin . NO start

Some other applications as advised in Geogle Search. NO Star

Now the nightmare question is: Do I have any option other then uninstalling FSX l.

a) What will happen my all add-ons?

b) What will happen to my CANDY awards from FSX flight log. Cheesy

Will you please advise whai is MY OPTION? Besides sit and .. Cry Cry

Thanks

I Googled your error message and saw this:

http://www.gamesforum.ca/showthread.php?t=366923

SOLUTION:
Delete the Logbook.BIN located in "...\My Documents\Flight Simulator X
Files\" of the current user. It seems that each time I did a full wipe
and clean install, I did not immediately try to install FSX to see if it
would work. More important to me was restoring my docs back over for
work and school. Had no idea that a corrupted logbook was causing such a
problem.

There were other sources of inf as well if you do a search for the error message.

Hi Sanal.

I have a suggestion, but it requires quite a lot of HDD space. If you have enough HDD space to do so, give this a try:

Restart your computer and DO NOT try starting FSX after the restart (it might not allow you to the next step!). After the restart, rename you FSX folder. For me, I renamed F:\Flight Simulator X to F:\FSX Backup.
I strongly recommend that you delete the fsx.cfg file, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
Place the FSX DVD int the DVD Drive and select the Repair option when given the choice to Uninstall or Repair. The FSX DVD still thinks that FSX is installed in F:/Flight Simulator X and so it will do a complete reinstall of itself there. Reinstall SP1 and SP2/Acceleration.

I do not delete my Logbook.bin file. The one I am using now is from 2009 and has been through several clean installations of both Windows XP and Windows 7. I have had to repair it quite a few times (I can send you the program if you like), in which I might lose a few logged flights, but it's better than losing ALL of them.

Reinstalling your FSX add-ons is different and will depend on the add-on itself, some (like Captain Sim) can be "repaired", even though they are not where the installer believes them to be. Others will need to be uninstalled and reinstalled. An uninstall should not touch the aircraft in the original FSX location (which was renamed) so it doesn't know they are there. Windows might tell you of a missing uninstall log (or something like that) and so can't uninstall it, but it might ask if you want to remove it from Control panel Programs and Features (Add and Remove Programs in WinXP). I usually say yes, and then reinstall the add-on. It has worked for all I have done so far.

Once all that is done. Any modified aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg and pretty much any other changes you have made to your add-ons can be carried over from the renamed FSX folder into the new FSX folder.

I'm still in the process of bringing things back to my new FSX installation after I did all the above about a month ago.

Hope his helps

Mark

I have a couple of questions about reinstalling using the method you outlined above.

1. How far along are you with the reinstall?

2.Does this method require any registry clean up in regards to FSX and CS products?

3.Addons such as airports, scenery, weather textures like REX, ASE, etc - are you cleaning up the registry when those are uninstalled? A lot of addons have uninstallers that will remove the application plus delete registry folders. I have found that using Control Panel\Programs and Features\Uninstall will get rid of the application but leave folders with broken links in the registry. What is your experience with this type of problem?

Thanks

Hi Michael.

1. Not quite sure what you mean. I have installed many of my add-ons so far. I have not redone REX2 yet (being lazy with that one), but I did remove the textures before reinstalling/repairing FSX.

2. I don't clean the registry after renaming the FSX folder.

3. Although removing the add-on from the Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs) without a proper uninstall can leave the product installation info in the registry, I have found that it fixes the registry once I install the product again. After I finish doing it all, I will get rid of the F:\FSX Backup and all its contents. I have been doing this type of fix for problems with FSX/FSXadd-ons this way for a long time, I have never noticed any problems with leftovers in the registry. I guess because I put everything back in the end, it won't really matter.

Doing it this last time, I have fixed a few annoying issues that I suddenly started having and FSX is running really well now.

In the past I have never deleted any registry folders either and have had no problems. Even with the CS planes I have used their uninstaller and then reinstalled without making registry changes mentioned in their KBs' with no apparent problems.

Glad to hear FSX is running okay. I have had no major disasters since February of this year but maybe their is one just around the corner. I am using Norton Ghost to make images of the whole system when I have installed addons and believe the system is stable. I also do weekly backups of data files such as new downloads, documents, routes, favorites, Flight Simulator X Files, FLIGHTPLANS, Windows Live Mail storage folders, etc. For the images and backups I use two external HDs'.

Thanks

You are better at doing backups than I am! I only do them when I think I need to. About once every few months. Sad

I am glad at the end, you  responded  to me. Captain Sim is a small community, you all generated a good friendly atmosphere.Looking forward to read the forums post and enjoy it

OK..Let me tell you what happened. Unfortunately, I waited so long for searching help. PC crashed with lot of Blue screens. Sad Sad Sad

I lost my all files, addons, nothing left behind.
Now I started from day one. Installed Windows 7 64 and working on many addons to install. Huh
May be next time I will be more organized with possible  PC crashes (???)

That's a bummer. I can't imagine any other app than a 'typical' flight sim installation being that valuable concerning the work that went into it by arranging all the stuff, entering all the installer values and so on.
For me, even Windows and my every day work stuff is way more easy to reinstall than FSX with all the addons I'm using.

Now I wonder why that happened, Sanal.

I will never find 100%  the  reason, but It did started with FsPassengers conflicts with FsCaptain and  P.M. MD11X combination. FsPassenger have some problems with Windows 7.  Before I can unistalled FSPassengerS, some OS files either deleted or corrupted. Then Blue screens started. This was the END Huh

Sorry to hear that Sanal. Sad

A good thing to come out of this is that you start with a nice clean install of FSX.
The bad thing is that you have to reapply any modifications you have done.

I'm still in the process of getting all of mine sorted out. So you aren't alone.
