EmbarrassedO.S. Windows7 64bit Acceleration. Have obtained installation with exe file, but after a second install I am unable to locate the choice of F/A-18 and LX-45. Consequently no install.

Depending on whether you have Acceleration installed, or not, determines whether you get the FA-18 OR the LX-45. The FA-18 is only available for those with Acceleration, the rest get the LX-45. So....Because you have Acceleration, you get the FA-18. If you can see it, the install is okay. If you can't, which I think is what you are saying, your install is faulty.

If you installation is not working, there are a few things you might need to do.

1) Instal Weapon for FSX "as an administrator". Right mouse click on the Weapon installer (csw001_1000.exe) and select "Run as an administrator" (second from the top, below OPEN) from the box that shows up.
2) Run the Loader as an administrator so that it can make changes to the aircraft that you want to have weapons. Right Click on the "Loader", select properties, select the Compatibility Tab and place a tick (checkmark) in the option to "Run this program as an administrator".
3) You might also need to run FSX as an administrator IF it is installed in the default location (whivh I think is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X) so that it will work properly. Right Click on the "fsx.exe", select properties, select the Compatibility Tab and place a tick (checkmark) in the option to "Run this program as an administrator".

If non of that works, just say so and I'll give you a list of more fun things to try. Hopefully that won't be necessary.

Thanks Markoz for your prompt reply, following your instructions I opened file CPT-w001.zip. This produced the file csw001_1000.exe. when right clicked I had the options-----Open, Cut, Copy, Delete, and Properties. But not 'Run as Administrator'

You have to highlight the .exe file first by left clicking once on it, then right click on it and you will then see the drop down menu with the option of "run as administrator".                      BobK

Try copying it or moving it out of the zip file and onto the desktop. From there, you should have the option to "Run as Administrator." I don't think "Run as Administrator" is an option when the file is in a zip folder.

Copaman is right. Winzip doesn't give you the option to "Run as administrator" from within a the zip file. Extract it first and then right mouse click on it. Wink

Thanks for the advice . The present status is as follows---All files are under Administration control. Having installed the programme I opened the FSX file then opened the Captain Sim file which had two files, first a cfg file and Loader.exe which I clicked to open under admin control and was presented with the Account Control option to open. When I clicked OK to open, everyyhing stopped here, no response. Having FSX with Accelation I have Checked F/A-18 but no weapons display. In running the installation I have not been presented wit the options F/A-18 or LX-45. perhaps not significant.

Sounds like something is wrong with the installer. It either didn't activate properly or it didn't install properly.

Check-in to Your Profile > Select product > Extended Download Service > Get New Links

Download it again and install it from the new file.

Have now received my software Disc and regret to say that I nam no further forward. Similar to the download version the programme installs OK, with the location in---FSX/Captain Sim/weapon/Loader.--- I have two files here. cfg, and Loader.exe. Double clicking Loader has no effect. Right click Loader and select 'Run as administrator' had no effect. Again right click Loader and select 'Trouble shoot compatability'select 'Try recommended settings'-Result 'Issues found , Incompatable Application Detected'. Also tried 'Trouble shoot programme with same result. Your comments would be appreciated

1) Did you uninstall Weapon before installing the one on the disc?
2) Have you, at any time since this problem started, done a complete uninstall which includes removing the registry entry as explained in KB #685?

Did you install it as an administrator. I ask this because sometimes when you put the disc in the drive, it will autorun and the application will want to be installed. If that happened, and you just allowed it to install, maybe that is causing the problem. On the other hand, it could be that the Activation didn't work properly (same problem on two different installers) and you need to do #2 above.

As you are running Win7 64bit, is Weapons being loaded into the correct directory as I seem to have seen that Win7 64 bit has this strange structure of program files and then a 86xx program files folder?

I dont have Win7 but recall seeing this somewhere before on a forum.

Very much appreciate your comments. Before I clear the decks and attempt a freash install, I want to follow your advice on removing the registry entry using KB#685. Could you advise a wooden head in a little more detail on where to locate this file, since so far I have not been able to find it.

Windows XP 32bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\w001 - delete w001 folder (it might be the same location for Vista & Win7 32bit versions too).
Vista/Windows 7 64bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\w001 - delete w001 folder

Look that the attached image be aware that this is the Windows 7 64bit location. Vista 32bit and Windows 7 32bit registry may or may not have the Wow6432Node section.
