Delta's original widget livery is one of the best IMHO, even though I have a thing for Delta; its iconic too, 30 years, I think thats longer than most...

I also think that the United Livery (pre-tulip) was better than the tulip ones. Pan Am's livery was good, and TWA's jet liveries were cool too. I also think that the Boeing yellow and brown liveries were cool. However, some modern ones are better than their airline's old ones. KLM's Blue top is better than the old one, same with Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Aeroflot.

It seems like a lot of European airlines started out with liveries that weren't as good as today's.

In general, the old liveries were much more linear and if done properly, really followed the line of the planes and enhanced the design of the plane from a visual standpoint. Today's liveries seem more loud and don't do as much to enhance the beauty of the aircraft itself.

I flew on one from Seattle to Anchorage in 1965 and then a Northwest 707 from Seattle to Honolulu. I was 9 years old on the Honolulu trip so I remember it well. That was in 1969

Thanks BrianG.

I remember I flew three times on B-707. The first time was a round trip flight from Rio de Janeiro to London in february/june 1974 (old and good Varig Airlines). Seventeen years later I flew a domestic flight. The international routes were already being made by DC-10 and B-747. At this time (1991), there were no more than few 707 flying in brazilian airlines and only in domestic routes. Months or years later (I don't remember), all the remaining 707, were converted in cargo ones until they disappear at all. Nowadays only the good memories remain.

When I flew on the 707 from Singapore to Melbourne (via Darwin), I got a King Neptune certificate:

I asked my mother if she knew where it was (if she still had it) and if I could get it of her. She hadn't seen it since some time the mid 70's. I was so sad because it was gone forever. Or so I had thought.

I showed my wife the picture above and the conversation goes like this:

Wife: "I've seen that!".
Me: "IN real life?"
Wife: "Yes."
Me: "When? Where?"
Wife: "In a box of your stuff!"
Me: "Holey &%@#. I still have it somewhere!!!! Yahoo!!!"
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I haven't found which box yet. I have so many that have been sealed for years.

Another thing of interest about that flight was that when we got to Darwin, there was an announcement that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated. Cry
