Transferring FSX

I'll be getting a new computer soon, and I will be uninstalling FSX from my current system and reinstalling it on the new one. Is there anything in particular I have to do to transfer the CS addons? (with regard to registry, etc.)

Just reinstall them on the new computer, making sure you have an internet connection to activate them. That should do it.

If you have any modifications that you made to panel or aircraft configuration files that you want to keep, copy them over using a USB flash drive.

Okay, thanks. I've seen on some websites that when reinstalling FSX, you have to uninstall all addons in order before uninstalling FSX. Do I have to do this?

Why would you need to uninstall FSX? I though it was a brand new computer that you need to install FSX on for the first time. Undecided

Don't I need to uninstall it from my current system to avoid registry errors?

I wouldn't think that I'd have to uninstall the addons (I can't really think of a good reason for why I'd have to), but I just want to be sure.

I did the same thing (same problem) and there are no registry problems. Same code key, and If you have your CS activation numbers, you can re-download  the plane on the extended download page. Same thing!

I would just leave FSX and the addons on your old computer. That's what I have done with two other computers. You can use the old one to expirement with FSX and addons trying different settings to see what happens without messing up your new computer. Don't think of what you are going to do as a reinstall - - it's going to be an install. Just remember to copy and paste any downloads of addons, emails with registration info, and routes you may have saved to your new computer using a USB Flash Drive or external hard drive.

So there won't be a registration problem with FSX?

Nope. I've had it, at one time, activated on two desktop PC's and a laptop without a problem. The problem with activating FSX is the amount of times you activate it in a very short period of time. I'm not entirely sure of how it works, but I've never been able to activate it twice within a 24 hour period. I have been able to activate it 3 times in just over a month.

Okay, cool. And the same goes for CS addons (including the C-130 boxed edition)?

If you exceed the limit on installs with the download versions, just ask CS if the will reset them. With the boxed C-130, I doubt there will be any problems. Wink

You should have no problem activating CS products on your new computer even if it is still on your old computer. I have the 757-200 on 3 computers and the 767-200, 767-300, MD-11X, 747-400X and 747-8X on 2 two computers and quite a few addon airports and scenery on two compurters. I have never come across an addon that could not be activated on two computers at once.
