FSX Loading Problem

Print Post
Lately, FSX has had trouble loading flights. About half the time when I either try to load a saved flight or just create a flight FSX tells me that loading is complete, and then nothing will happen (sometimes when the loading box disappears, the screen just stays black, too). I was lucky enough to actually have a flight load today, but I didn't have it going for long until I decided to change the settings. After the flight "loaded," I was met with a blank screen? Does anybody know what might be causing this, and if there's a fix?

This has happened to me also, try restarting your computer. If that does not help, insert your FSX disc 1 and repair FSX. If that does not help, you MIGHT have to un-install and re-install FSX. Maybe maybe not I'm not sure. Good luck!

How much is repairing it going to change? (i.e. will it remove any addons and my fsx.cfg tweaks?)

I looked it up, and it looks like repairing is pretty much the same as reinstalling--you have to uninstall all addons in the order you installed them, too. I'll try and see if there's another solution. If I have to reinstall or repair, I'm just going to uninstall and wait until I get my new computer to install FSX on that.

Yeah. I've found that if I click "Fly Now" and then don't touch ANYTHING, I can get the flight to load.  Smiley

This happens to me a lot. The cause, for me, is that while the flight is loading, I go and do something else and Windows "loses focus" on FSX. This was not fixed with a clean reinstall of FSX. It still continues to happen and it almost always happens if I start FSX directly from a saved flight situation and avoiding the start-up screen. I do sometimes see it even starting FSX the normal way, but it is rare. I'm not sure if this is a solution when you get the black screen. I've never had the black screen, just a blank screen.

My remedy is to:
1) Make sure that FSX is the the program that Windows is focused on (CTRLALT+TAB until FSX is selected).
2) ALT+ENTER to bring up the FSX screen. If you use FSX in Full screen mode, then this will make it Window Mode. Press ALT+ENTER again to return it to Full Screen.

Hope this helps.

I had this happen to me last week, I wrote about it to you Mark. I fixed it by deleteing ther FSX-cfg file and letting FSX build a new one upon restart and uninstalling software I had installed.

Quote from Bernardo email: Hello Mark, All of a sudden today my aircraft have dissapeared! The model doesn't show in FSX after it starts...Only the shadows are visible.
Did I misunderstand your email? Going by the question, I thought it was only the aircraft that were missing. I was still trying to figure out why, when you started FSX, all of your aircraft were invisible (or at least the VC was invisible) and yet you could see the aircraft shadows. But before I had figured it out,  I got your saying you had fixed it using the method you just said above.

The thing that had me puzzled, was why it was happening to ALL of your aircraft. Sorry about that.

Now. Going back to the first problem. I get a "blank screen". I'll use starting FSX directly from the Captain Sim 727-100 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA) flight):
I double click on the 727-100 Cleared for takeoff (KSEA).
FSX starts and I get the splash screen.
After a while I get the little white box showing that the flight is loading but I still have the FSX splash screen showing.
After the flight has loaded, I can hear the engines of the 727 running, but all I can see is my Windows Desktop.
Using ALT+TAB to switch between tasks that I have open in Windows and stopping on FSX does NOT bring the screen back. I still only hear the engines.
While Windows is "focused" on FSX, I press ALT+ENTER and suddenly the screen comes up and I am in the 727 VC with everything visible.

I have to press ALT+ENTER again to get FSX back into Windowed Mode. If you use full screen mode, you will be in Windowed mode and will need to press ALT+ENTER to return FSX to full screen mode again. I use windowed mode because I get better performance than I do in full screen mode.

That is the way it happens to me most of the time. It sometimes happens from when I start FSX normally and using Fly Now. So my main question here is this: Is what I described above, happening with FSX for you guys? Is that what this Topic is about?

Mark

NOt to me Mark. I always load from my default flight,a flight I have created form my local airport ie Cessna 172,Kastrup, Rwy 04,Fair weather and local time. Once it load in 2D I change all the views "S" and "A" Once that's done I load weather, create a new flights and go fly.

To the aircraft question All I was seeing once the flight loaded was the shadow of th plane, sound was there and views...But the planes' model wasn't showing.I updated my GC drivers and it works now.

How it didn't keep yp after installtion of the new software and all of a sudden it all went wrong is beyond me?
