TrackIR 5

Just got it but,  Does anyone know if I can disable it for the outside views of my aircraft? Right now I have to look to my extreme left to see the front of my aircraft. The natural point IR tracker is calibrated for my forward view that places me behind the aircraft. I can no longer use my hat switch to look around........thanks Otto

There should be a key defined to pause the device, so the normal spacebar+mouse control works then.
Just look up that key in the TrackIR software. Mine isn't standard and I have forgotten about the default one.  Embarrassed

F9 is the default shortcut for PAUSE in TrackIR5.exe. I have a TrackIR 4 with Track Clip Pro and it is great. I wish I had the TrackIR 5 as it is even better, according to everything I have read about it.

TrackIR5 is excellent. Needed a to set it up a little but when done I don't expect to fly it. Works great with CPT Sim but not so good with stock FSX aircraft. It seems that when I try to sit back I end up behind the seat. Thanks once again for the info.

MY  TrackIR in  hangar. Every time, I tried to use it, never went beyond 10 minutes. I end up butting back into hangar.

I have two problems:

1-I have to wear CAP .

2-Head movement , is so sensitive and I cannot adjust it. Cry

May I suggest the clip on for your headset. The TrackIR 5 I ordered did not come with it so I went to Natural Point and ordered it. I think after shipping it comes to around $45.00 (no need for a hat)

I had the problem you are having at first with the head movement. Before firing up FSX Open the Icon on your desk top for Track IR. You will see in the calibration screen sliders that allow you to adjust the settings. MOST IMPORT! look at the top screen and you will see 3 green dots. Once you are comfortable in your chair manipulate those 3 dots by phyically moving the IR reciever on top of your Monitor so that they are centered in the screen. Now look at the 3d head image and hit F12. It will automatically center your 3d head image in the screen. From now on this will be TrackIR's reference point for center. It does take a while to get use to it but the rewards are worth it.

I think from the sheer experience, TrackIR 4 equals the #5, so no need to upgrade. I have the "5" though.
But I can recommend the combination of EZCA and TrackIR, giving you an easy and always fitting setup for viewpoints of all kind while also enabling some nice effects to avoid the rather static impression of flight sim cockpit.

So TrackIR "pure" is fine, but with the Naturaltrack software alone it's a pain in the a.. to get around some sim limitations for example.
Also, setting up the viewpoints via EZCA is much more comfortable and better fitting than any pre-defined viewpoint which can only be accessed by pressing "A".
I'm e. g. enjoying it very much in planes like the 727 and 707, really finding my spot to operate the FE panel.

Oh there's much to adjust, but I'm working with a close to default profile here. I think that Bojote offered his as a download, maybe it helps you, Sanal.

I you have settle into your comfy position, press F12 to reset the camera and viewpoint and then you won't be behind a seat. Wink

I agree with Otto. Buy the Track Clip Pro. It really is well worth it.

@ CoolP. I use the EZdokCA setting at first, then I went and tweaked it. It is not so sensitive any more. It really neat. I'm really not sure exactly how EZCA and TrackIR work together, but it sure works nicely.

The most unfortunate thing for me, at the moment, is that I'm stuck using the Track Hat and Track Clip until I get a new set of headphones. Sad

Did anybody tweak that cap to a Captain's hat? Maybe Lou attached those TrackIR reflective things to his old one. Just assuming.  Cheesy

I never bought any of the reflective dots to be able to do that. I can just imagine Lou sitting at his computer, dressed in his Captain's uniform, doing a virtual flight. Grin

Sorry Lou. I shouldn't make fun of you, but it was CoolP's fault because he started it. Cool

@CoolP - Well I gotta blame someone else! Tongue

No problem. Since I've already asked Lou about his sim flying dress and he responded that the times of the white shirt and the tie are over, I'm ok.
Guess what I'm wearing then.  Grin

But seriously, some Captain's hat as a TrackIR device would be cool or not?

It can't just be the Captains cap, it has to be the entire uniform or it won't look right. Grin

FaceTrackNoIR sounds like a good thing and the users spoke good about it too, you are right.
It just uses a webcam and nothing else to track your head.
Since I'm already running TrackIr and am happy with it I didn't try it so far though.

Currently testing this (good idea!). I hope I can make it to the sim later.  Tongue

See the TrackIr reflectors on that hat?
