Ace not working
May 31st, 2011 at 5:19pm

Just reloaded C 130 on my new computer and can't get my Ace program to work. When I open it it gives me a message that my MSFS path for my flight files is not correct. I then get the screen that allows me to put in the path. I do that and the the save button does not do anything. Probably something simple but need help. Thanks.

Are you a W7 user? If so, did you install csp131_1300.exe "as administrator", using the mouse's right button to open it?

Did you check if the paths, both to FSX as to your FSX flight files (*.FLT) at ACE TOOL's tab are correct?

Yes I am using W7. I have opened Ace with "Run as Adminstrator" and it opens a box in the tools to change the paths. I put the the path for the flights but the save button does not work.

Check-in to Your Profile > Select product > Customer Support > Search KB or Submit New Ticket and enter 700 in option C.
You will get the following KB Faq and click on the link to the FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool. I did not provide the link in my reply.

Q: How to fix your flight simulators registry path in FSX/FS9 (avoid "Your Path for Flight Simulator Files is Not Correct" message in TCE/ACE) (by JB)

A:
Use this free FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB)

From: General / Tips and Tricks (QID 700)

See if that helps.

I just tried it and no joy. The error message I get is "Path for your MSFS flight files (*.FLT) is not correct. Please Select path for your MSFS flight files and save it." I then get the box to do that and I manually put in the path and the save button does not work. Thanks again for your replies.

A really strange issue.

1) I suggest you to uninstall the add-on and clean all register data:

Uninstall > Delete all CS C-130's register data [start > regedit.exe (as administrator) > Captain Sim > C130XPRO > delete all files (Standard/FLT/RegCode/RegName/support/tpl/version)] > Restart PC > Reinstall.

2) Or maybe your installer is corrupt. Download it again and try installing from the new installer:

Check-in to Your Profile > Select product > Extended Download Service > Get New Links.

Hope this help,

Pinatubo.

Try doing this:

Q: How to reinstall a product?

A:
Quite a number of "issues" are caused by using of outdated version of a product. Prior to submitting a support request please make sure you have current version of a product.

To reinstall a product please perform the following steps in exact order:
Uninstall the product:
1. Go to Start> Programs> Captain Sim.
2. Select the product you wish to uninstall.
3. Click uninstall icon.

Install the product:
4. Make sure you have the latest version of the product
5. Run the product installer (the .exe file) and follow the prompts.
Please note: valid Order Number and Internet connection are required for installation/activation.

Please make sure you run the installation file as Administrator and that "User Account Control" is disabled (for Vista and Windows7), it limits admins ability to install programs.

If regular reinstall did not fix your problem you can try to clean registry.
Please be careful and do it on your own risk!

How to clean Registry:
1. Uninstall the product
2. Go to Start> Run. Type: regedit, click OK.
3. Find the product entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\ (please note, for Windows 64bit versions it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\)
For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\C130XPRO
Make sure you are going to delete correct folder!
4. Delete the product entry folder.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Install the product.

If you stil have issues and the above does not help we must admit your system configuration is a rare exception. You can try to install the product on another system or request a refund.

From: General / Download/Installation (QID 685)

Look at the following image so you can see what you need to delete from the windows registry.

I use Windows 7 64bit, so mine is stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\CaptainSim\. If you are using a 32bit version of Windows, then yours will be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CaptainSim\.

I can't quite follow you on that last reply. But ACE needs to be looking for where FSX is installed on the computer. I don't think you would install it in the Documents\Flight Simulator X files folder.

The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X, as far as I know. My guess is that you are not pointing the C-130 ACE to the correct folder.

Documents\Flight Simulator X files is the location of saved Flights, Flight Plans etc.
