There will NOT be a 2D panel with the 777-200 Base Pack according to Captain Sim 2 (Tanya):

Unfortunately there will be no 2D panel.

There is always a chance that they could change their minds on that, but don't hold your breath waiting for it.

I do hope they change their mind. I don't have any payware A/C without a 2D panel.

I spend a lot of time removing the 2D cockpits and panels out of my payware add-on aircraft. But that's my preference. Wink

And i get completely mad, when under ATC control, the 3D panel fails to respond accurately and fast enough to the needs of an approach (i mean flying online with a "real" ATC, not the FSX ATC window)

Sometimes that button just won't click because you're not clicking on the right spot and you click once, twice, wasting precious time just enough for the ATC to ask "What are you doing, i said turn left HDG 030!". What are you gonna say? "Please forgive me, i don't have a 2D panel!"  Grin Grin Grin

Really, it looks good but it's hardly functional and should exist just as a second option, for the looks, not as a primary flight panel.

Click the LNAV or HDG button to turn off the AP steering and turn the wheel to the left while you sort it out  Cool

CS is not making 2D panels anymore. I prefer them to the VC because of two facts.

First: touching the buttons is done quickly and precisely
Second: Everything is better readable

I know I lose the real sensation and so on but I prefer watching things sharp and clear without being playing with the zoom, moreover, I can respond to an ATC clearance faster.

My opinion

Oh well, I've just wasted my money buying the exterior model.

NO 2D cockpit!!! How disappointing.  I for one hate VC with a passion.

Looks like I'll have to revert back to another payware 777.

Any chance for a refund???  Cheesy

What a shame there is no 2D panel! They are always useful for precise controls. I mean, whenever I move the plane I use the VC, but when getting ready for a flight and configuring the necessities, I always use the 2D panel.

This is disappointing but to be honest I'm quite happy to hear this is some sense, because I always like something new. Wink

Who says we can't get used to it?  Cool

I really think if a developper has the knowledge to build a 3d panel, it should be really easy for him to build the 2d version as well. And, by the way, don't forget that most monitors today are 16:9 or 16:10!

With only a few hours of tweaking, Captain Sim devs could easily and quickly make 4:3 AND a 16:9 panels, and they won't loose sales !

For those who don't like 2d panel, no big deal, put 0 intead of 1 in the panel.cfg entry "visible=1", et voilą! problem solved!

For those of us with small laptop, reading glasses, no mouse, and no fancy track-ir devices, the 2d panel will keep up happy.

I've made this 767/757 2d widescreen conversion in a few days, I'm sure a CS dev can make a brand new one in less than 8 hours... and cash big time with alot of happy customers!

I really wish there was a 2D panel also.

I was really looking forward to purchasing this product and I am really disappointed there is no 2d panel.

If someone finds one, please let me know. . .

The whole 2D/VC discussion has been repeated many times. I used 2D in FS9, but when FSX was released I switched to VC and never looked back. As computers get faster with better graphics, I believe full 2D panels will become rare. However, there will still be a place for popups for a while, although eventually there might just be a "quick zoom" on the VC. Making two panels is time-consuming for developers. Personally I'd like to see some systems such as VNAV fixed.

Wish list? - Why bother!

Captain Sim don't seem to care much about their old customers wishes anyway.

Through out the wish list customers again and again are stating the importance of 2D panels without anything is happening.
It's a pain in the neck looking at those spectacular Boeing 777 previews from CaptainSim and still not being fully able to use this wonderful aircraft because of a strange and stubborn decision not to include essential 2D views!
So why bother at all putting up this wish list..?

More and more compagnies are moving forward to not including a complete 2d cockpit anymore.

Myself I prefer the VC which is , imho , much more realistic.
Several parts are still in 2D.
The only 2d cokpit parts I use is the CDU.

Track IR or HAT track can help a lot on finding all places in the cockpit.
Adds enormeous realism.
