Tried re-install twice - same problem. Tried re-download and re-install - same problem. Three trouble tickets to Captain Sim Support (6884,6898,6955) with NO RESPONSE !!! New Core i7 system with Radeon 5770 graphics card. Hardware should be OK. Where to from here ?????  Cry

If you are using Vista or Windows 7, have you tried installing it using "run as administrator"?

I still show two tickets, 6898 ande 6955 open in my account. If they were closed how do I see the results. I normally get your email w/o a problem but recieved no notification on 6898 or 6955.

I have several CaptainSimn products and have had no problems with any of them. I  love the Legendary 707 in FS9. So how do I get a good version for FSX ???

Please help resolve this ....... Oscaler1

Don't worry, Oscaler1.

You can run files "Run as administrator" even when logged in as admin by clicking them with the right mouse button. This seems to elevate some rights and often helps.
Also try to turn off your AV solution for some minutes to allow the installer to do his work without getting in trouble with some nervous antivirus or something.
The Windows build in UAC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control) also may be a source of errors when installing things. Once again, a off is recommended there.

The installer from your download should be ok since all of us used it so far. If you still have trouble after looking at the mentioned points, please report back.  Smiley

Hi,

Did you clean all B-707 register data before reinstall the add-on?

start > regedit > running regedit.exe "as administrator" > deleting all (x701) seven files.

Response to trouble ticket 6995 recieved - Thanks.  Recommendation was to uninstalln SP2 and re-install. No can do as the version of FSX I have came with FSX and Accelerator in one package. Accelerator includes SP2. Looking at Programs and Features I see FSX:Accelerator. Looks like I would have to uninstall and re-install FSX which I really don't want to do as I'd have to re-install all the add-on aircraft, going through all the registration code and privacy stuff all over again. Geeezzzz...

Must be a better way!

There may not be,I am afraid.

When your problem with a piece of software is unique to you, the likelihood is that the error lies in your setup, not in the software that you are trying to install.

First question, did your version of FSX have a seperate DVD for the Acceleration Pack and did you install this?
As far as I know, there is only one FSX version, either Gold or Standard.
It was updated by SP1 and then SP2.
The Acceleration Pack included SP2 and extra aircraft, but not SP1?
When you run FSX and click on "Help/About",what version of FSX do you have?

It is very easy to re-install FSX,without affecting your original installation.
Backup your current FSX.cfg file or you will lose it,then simply rename the folder where you have FSX installed, then insert the DVD and when you are offered the choice, select "repair".
You will then have a clean installation which you do not need to re-register.
Your scenery.cfg file will remain unchanged,so you may well have to go through a number of "scenery area missing" messages, but otherwise you will have a working clean installation.
Install your 707 into this, again selecting the "Repair" option and I would be very surprised if it does not work correctly.

Once you have done this, you can either copy over all your addons and delete the original,or identify what is wrong with the original and delete the clean version.

Regards,
Nick.

When I install FSX and Acceleration, I never have to install SP1 for FSX (as a separate install), Acceleration will do it once it sees that I have not done it.

Backup your current FSX.cfg file or you will lose it
To do a repair of FSX, place the FSX DVD 1 in the drive and when it asks, select the option to repair.
Next. When it asks, put the FSX DVD 2 in and click on OK when ready.
Once that is done, put the Acceleration DVD in the drive and select the repair option when it asks. When it is finished, the repair of FSX is completed.
I did not back up my FSX.cfg before doing this and it the repair didn't touch it. I repaired my FSX installation two days ago because my default 747 had gone AWOL. Well it was only the aircraft.cfg and boeing747-400.air files that were missing really.

Yes, perhaps I should have explained better.
Installing FSX does not, in itself, create an fsx.cfg file.
This is created when FSX is run for the first time.

I should have said, before you run your clean installation, make sure you have renamed your fsx.cfg file.
If you do not, your repaired installation will use the existing one.
The fsx.cfg file may,or may not, contain the fault that is preventing you from using the 707.
Renaming it will make FSX write a new one, clean, to match your clean install of FSX.

As to Acceleration,I bow to Mark's knowledge,as I do not possess it.
If I have to re-install,I install FSX,run it once, then SP1 and run it again and finally SP2.
This may not be entirely necessary but has been 100% successful.

Nick.

I was just explaining how I don't need to install SP1 before installing Acceleration.

Sorry Nick, if it seems like my reply "sounds" like I was telling you off. It was not meant to.
You had a question mark (?) at the end of the statement and mine was just supposed to show that you don't need to.
As for the "backing up fsx.cfg", perhaps I could have and should have just stuck to saying you don't need to. I guess I got carried away.
Sorry.

No problem,Mark.
I didn't read your post as a telling off and I did need to clarify and amend my advice.
It would be good, now, to find out if our advice is of any help in solving the problem.

Regards,
Nick.

What methods have you tried to fix your problem. Once we know that, we'll see if we can help you further.

It would be nice if we knew whether the problem was sorted out, or not. The replies regarding an uninstall/reinstall of FSX, or a repair of FSX, as ways of trying to sort it out, might well have been the answer. I always say what it was that sorted out any problem I have had because it helps others.
