Just for your information. I am doing a flight from KFLL to KJFK and the Progress 1/2 page indicates a ETA at KJFK of 1622 and ETA at T/D 1611. The difference between the two ETAs is 11 minutes. The plane is at FL350. So it is going to descend, conduct a ILS approach and land in 11 minutes. I would say this FMC is screwed up. Do other people have this problem. Maybe the aledged 4.5 update will solve this issue.

Michael,

I have to agree with you - that is a pretty fast descent.

I don't have the CS-767, but the 757 computer is the old style non PEGASUS FMC which is OK, but does not have all the smart stuff that the new FMC has. I seem to remember a DIR INT (direct intercept) key, but it's not shown on this computer control panel.

I hope that the next up-date will fix these problems.

Later I will post a topic on how entering the winds aloft average direction and speed or by each waypoint makes virtually no difference in the ETA at the T/D. Maybe I expect too much or don't know what to expect but I do base my expectations upon what I have been able to do in the P..G MD11 flights that last 10-12 hours and covers from 35 to 60 waypoints.

I´ve noticed the far to early ETA too. CS should take a look for 4.5. The wind data entry doesn´t work as described in the manual. I already posted a ticket. The answer was that they will remove it from the manual.

Nepo

Thanks for the information. "Remove it from the manual." What a crummy answer but a least they replyed and did not cancel your ticket. So whay you are saying is a wind direction and speed entered and executed for a waypoint will not carry on down the route to the remaining waypoints if wind direction and speed are not entered for those subsequent waypoints. What about entering the wind info for each waypoint in a route? Does that work?

Thank you
Michael Cubine.

It's probably just taking your current speed and distance for ETA.

If you think there are errors you can go to the legs page and select the bottom right button "route data"  on the left you can read the time  on the right the fuel, just step through the flight plan to find the miscalculation. The deal is it don't matter what the automation says or does you still just fly and manage your airplane.

I just finished a KJFJ-KDFW flight. The ETA at the T/D was pretty sad. There were 19 waypoints in the flight 3 of which were prior to criuse altutude of FL340. Those three I entered a lower and upper altitude for since the winds aloft report generated by ASX shows wind direction, speed, and SAT temperature for  6000. 9000, 12000, FL180, FL240, FL300, FL340, and so on to FL490. The first waypoint was the Robinsville VOR at around FL223 I entered FL180 and FL240 info. The next two waypoints were COPES and BYRDD at about FL310 and FL330. For those two I used data for FL300 and FL340. The rest of the waypoints were at FL340. For each of the remaining waypoints I entered the wind direction, speed, and SAT per ASX. When I reached cruise altitude the T/D ETA was 1640 GMT. Actual T/D was 1657. Off by 17 minutes on a three hour flight. Nepo, I think I answered my question. Entries by each waypoint does not work. You will be a T/D when you get there.

Thanks for the info. I had completed the fight by the time I read your post so I will not be able to try your suggestion. It took almost 45 minutes to enter the wind information by waypoint: therefore, there will be no future flights where I could check it out.

Thank you
