Comp sound settings

G/day Guys,  As you may have seen in my previous posts i have a sound problem, which is due to my settings i think, so im going to post my sound settings to see if you can spot anything . I have looked at a lot of places to find the correct settings for fsx flight sim, while there is heaps of info on graphics there is very little on audio. So here are my comp settings/ i have realteck hd audio with all enhancements off , no dolby effects on, set to either 16bit or 24bit @ 44100hz, im on vista home premium, on a toshiba lap top with two speakers. My main problem is a swooshing sound when turning ,either in the air or on the ground, this happens with all planes, the only way to lessen the the effect is to shut the engines down and restart them. So if anybody has some ideas, that would be great   Thanks for your time   Jeff Smiley  What i should put on the end here is are your computer settings close to mine and if not how is your computer set up for sound as per above.  thank you   Jeff

Try updating to the latest drivers for your Realtek HD Audio. You should be able to get them from the Company who make your Laptop.

G/day Mark,   Sorry for this late reply, im getting on in years, and my memory isnt what it used to be, this paticular post had slipped my mind, and ive been stuffing around with the settings. Do you use the equalizer at all, or any enhancements, eg dolby ect. That swooshing sound i was talking about comes and goes, its hard to pin down. Ive looked at the TSS site and there is nothing on sound settings, what they give you in their sound packages, is not detailed enough, and i have left a suggestion to give a detailed description on sound settings. Anyway Mark thanks again take care      Jeff Smiley

Hi Jeff.

With me, all that fancy stuff (Equalizers etc.) is wasted. Grin I don't use them. The way the sounds starts after installing the drivers, is the way I use it, no changes at all. Maybe your on-board sound card is dying and needs replacing.

I agree with Mark about the driver. I would go to the Toshiba website and download the latest sound driver for your model. Ask Toshiba support for help if you have no luck with the driver.

G/day ,Mark and Cappy, Thanks for the reply, i dont like stuffing around with settings either, im just trying to find what causes this swooshing sound,i know how to get rid of it (restart engines) i just like to know why its doing it and its nowhere near as bad as it used to be eg it did it with all planes, now it intermitent. and seems to only happen with the 707. Most times it doesnt worry me to much, but now and again i dig my heels in and try and find out why its doing it. Now i know that you dont use any settings, thats all i wanted to know. I had updated the drivers long ago, but thanks for the suggestion. Btw Mark i got TSS PW sound pack for the 757 the other day(fsx ver), sounds great, but they havent got the RR fsx version done yet, Tss is where i got the equalizer settings idea from. anyway thanks again take care Jeff Smiley

Hi Jeff.

The one thing you need to understand about hardware drivers, is that they can keep getting updated. It is a good idea to keep an eye on the latest ones because as "issues" are found and then fixed, new drivers get released.
