I have been meaning to get this out of my system since 2007 when I mistakenly assumed FSX was a flight simulator. Yes, my rant today is my personal feelings on this P.O.S. Microsoft called a flight simulator. I call it a bloated lumbering hog that hogs all the memory available in your windows OS till the computer can’t take any more and screams “out of memory”. I should have suspected something was amiss when I had to purchase three programs to make the original one work. Was this just another Microsoft rip off or another Microsoft screw up? Probably the latter but either way, we pay the price.

I have had at least 15 different flight sims over the years but I have never had as many problems or found so many stupid or worthless commands in one program. In order to get this bloated lumbering hog to work I've purchased a new $2000 wiz bang computer plus I've upgraded my hard drives two times from 300gb to 1tb with marginal results. Likewise my RAM from 2GB to 4GB along with a top rated Nvidia video card but again with limited results.

I have to admit my fascination with Capt sims attention to detail models is my only reason for having a lumbering piece of dung like FSX and if not for Capt Sim I would have long ago relegated this lumbering hog to the recycle bin.

I honestly believe Capt Sim has made a serious error in judgment putting all its eggs in this rickety basket. I would be willing to bet Capt Sim could increase its sales by a minimum of 30% if they would just release these incredible models in FS9 as well. FS9 actually works. I honestly believe FSX is a dead end with no future, unless Microsoft totally re-engineers this turd, which I doubt will ever happen but if they do you can bet it will cost us dearly.

Did anyone notice Microsoft shut down its gaming division after realizing no amount of patches or add on programs could help FSX survive so now after revamping and renaming their gaming division they have also announced they would soon be releasing a totally new redesigned flight sim, “Microsoft Flight”. Hopefully they will come out with something a whole lot better than FSX. FSX is to the flight sim world what Vista was to computer world a hopeless and pricey dud. Anyone want to bet this new flight sim will be a 64bit program so now we will all have to purchase new 64bit machines. On and on it goes. Thank God Microsoft doesn’t build real airplanes or we would all be up to our arm pits in crushed aluminum.

OK I've had my say now everybody back to trying to get that bloated hog flying again.

If FSX is so wonderful why does it take two clicks to hide the menu bar?
Why is there no snow in the winter, That crap they say is snow wouldn't hardly pass as hail and sleet. Snow falls gently not like Meteorites.
When I set up flaps, radio, doors open or anything else in a saved flight in FS9 it is that way when I return. Fat chance in FSX, waste time starting over then what's the point of saving a flight if nothing is saved.
Great addons?? Where is the great LAX addon?
I bet I can match your cloud details in FS9 without spending a fortune.
I'll think FSX is the end of the line and the next big FS from Microsoft will probably not be compatible with FSX, FS9 or your present computer so we start all over again looking for that dream Flight Sim. Boy have they got us fooled.

I have a mediocre computer, yet I can crank up every setting to its max (except when I'm flying the 707, then I have to turn off traffic, but that doesn't really matter) and enjoy frame rates over 20 even at large airports. Albeit, my graphics aren't as stunning as pj747's pic, but it's called a flight simulator game for a reason, and that is that it's not real-life, and so it's not perfect. All I can say is I hope you enjoy Flight when it comes out.
