I now have a small dose of tall poppy fever WinkThanks Cappy Wink

At least we don't walk around in Speedo's showing off beer bellies.....hehe..... Wink

And what is wrong with the DC-8, Air New Zealand had it haha....but yes I do like the SP, and it probably wouldn't be hard for CS to integrate it, similar avionics, with really only exterior differences, such as single slotted flap systems etc,.

And bring on the kiwi jokes--I will happily show off some of the jokes about Aussies I take so much pride in dishing out--although they probably mostly aren't appropriate for this forum.... Grin Grin Grin Grin

Good afternoon everybody,

nzaviationrules, you're not alone who wants a 747 SP. There is a topic in this part of forum speaking about this :
http://www.captainsim.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1297524176

I'd like that Captain sim make a 747SP ( I love "line" EPR/N1/N2 gauge like a thermometer ).

Have a good day
Yannick

Ohhh, I do believe I looked at that-- I shall keep an eye on that thread....
And secondly, your from France--please tell me that the pass that scored France the try that won the game for them in the Rugby World Cup 2008 was forward!! Grin Grin(assuming you followed it, and you weren't the referee...)

Ohh, and thirdly, on topic this time Wink, I to love the avionics in this aircraft--the 747 range avionics, they feel a bit more "hands on" than any other comparably sized aircraft....a feeling I would much like to have in an airliner.... Smiley Smiley

Good morning everybody.

nzaviationrules, I'm french and I can say that the pass in the Rugby World cup 2007 was forward ( that's the first time that an English referee is gentle with a french team hihihi ).
Where do you come from ?

I think the fact that Captain sim makes classical jets, it's a very good idea. I'm not a good virtual pilot ( I'm a newbie ), but I think it's change from modern airliners with glass cockpit. There are so much things to think during a flight, it's more interesting then monitoring the computer ( FMC ).

Have a good day

Friendly

Yannick
PS : sorry about my so poor english

I agree with Yannick. While I'm flying the 707, I actually have something to do (mess with the doppler), whereas in the more modern jets, I just turn on the autopilot and sit back. I never use VNAV or ILS because then all you actually do is taxi around. In a real airplane, there would be things to do, but in Flight Sim, not so much.

Oh, glad you agree with the forward pass!! That ref needs his eyesight checked.... Grin Grin

I am from NZ, living there now in Christchurch--where are you from in France??

I totally agree with you and Boeing247 in terms of the older, less modern cockpits- I absouletly love the worn in, raw flying feel to them more than anything-sheer fun, and a great way to get your head around the way the systems work in those cockpits Cheesy Cheesy

Being American, the most rugby I have ever seen is watching the movie "Invictus" (yep, we're that country who name the sport where you only kick the ball once "football"  Tongue). So anyways, watched a video, and I now know what you're talking about.

Also, like Yannick, I'm a no expert in aviation, and the old navigation systems (my rule is, if I can work the navigation system, it's a good plane) are simpler than the new ones. Well, maybe not the navigation systems themselves, but learning how to work the FMC is slow. I learned how to work the Doppler radar in about ten minutes.  Smiley

Good morning everybody,
I live at Paris. It's amazing the fact that this forum can get meeting together aircraft fans from 3 different continents. New Zealand must be a very beautiful country.
Boeing 247, you're a better pilot than me because you can land your 707 without ILS and you can use the doppler and the INS... I fly whit the default FSX ATC who sometimes make me crazy ( in the last fly I've must do 2 Go around because a Cessna was on final approach 4Mn behind me... ).
But, for coming back of this main topic, I'hope that Captain sim continue making classical jet like a 747 100/200 or SP. They make so beautiful aircraft and not to hard to play with after some training flights.

Friendly

Yannick

P.S : sometimes I Fly with the 767 Captain ( after programming the FMC it's funny to pilot him ), and I regret that there is not an air Mauritius Livery ( Markoz in an other topic that an air mauritius 767-200ER have done the furthest flight with this kind of bird )

The main reason I don't use ILS is because of things like what happened to me last night. I was sitting  in front of my computer for an hour flying to Istanbul. When I got near the airport, the tower vectored me wrong and decided I should land on a taxiway  Tongue. ILS wouldn't have done me much good there.  Wink

Anyways, the doppler isn't that hard to use. There's detailed instructions in the second manual. The INS is a lot harder, though, and I know a good video tutorial if you need one. While I can use the INS (shakily, albeit), I don't because Lou tells me that the 707 really used doppler, and not INS.

How on earth does the ATC instruct you to land on a Taxiway instead of a Runway? I've never had that happen. Not even with add-on airports. The worst thing I have had happen, is the Control Tower (not ATC) at HNL give me instructions to land my 707-300 on Water Runway 04. Like I'm going to do that! Grin

Yannick Rochet,

Afin de profiter de ce passe-temps vous avez juste besoin de pratiquer.
N'est pas difficile, vraiment!

They didn't instruct me to land on the taxiway, but they vectored me to the point where there was no possible way I was going to touch down on the runway.

Good Afternoon everybody,

Louis, thank you very much for yours few words in french. Cŕ me fait trčs plaisir, merci ! And that's the first time that I can speak to an aircraft captain. It's a great honour. You're giving me countenance for try to flight whis the fantastic bird which is the 707 captain.

Boeing 247, I hope that the FSX ATC at Istambul is now looking for another job. Which others Captain Sim planes have you got, and which is your favorite ? I hope this question is allowed in this forum.

Have a good end of day

However, the cowlings are different, and the nose is the ditinctive Douglas/McDonnel Douglas narrowbody shape

From an earlier quote, the problem with the DC 8 is the modifications it had. The wing cowlings, winbg sweep, engines, length, speed were all continually changed. It is like making a new plane altogether for FSX modellers. The 747 classics would be great. I would like to use both cockpit versions of the 747. The engine variants, range and other things would be difficult though. Also, for the Frenchies (not trying to be mean, just British) use Google translate if you are having language problems.

Yannick,
I have the 767-300 and Freighter, the 757-200 and freighter, the 727-100, the 707-300, the B-52, the C-130 for FSX, and Weapon. I couldn't really say what my favorite is, but it's either the 767, the 707, or Weapon. They're pretty different, so they're hard to compare, but it's probably the 707.
