Tip for owners of the 707 and 727...and question

....go into the aircraft.cfg of the 727(s) and search for smokesystem, change the cs727smoke to cs707smoke. This will give you the much better 707 smoke on the 727.

One question: will there be an update for the 727 with 707-style interior lighting, with the possibility of actually having red and white dome lights?

SoulFlight,

Yes indeed the early JT-8D's were dirty, but by the early 70's the burner cans were changed and ended all that smoke. It was after the new burner can change that we realized how much we depended on the smoke for spotting traffic.

As for the red & white cockpit dome lights I too wish they were there & with dimmers instead of just on and off so you could adjust the lighting the way you like it.

Hi, I already made the change in aircraft .cfg 727 as you mention it but nothing happens, I have to do another procedure? in fact before making the change I've never had the effect of smoke in the 727.
Tks

Yes you do. You also have to press the "I" key (default keyboard shortcut for the smoke system), so you can see it.

I did all that but I didn't like how it looked so I'm back with the original.

The effect of smoke is very slight...Almost trasparent, don't expect a badly tuned old diesel smoke coming out of the engines.

Yes, the Boeing 727 is best known not for her smoke, but for her indistinguishable and massive sound.

We used to watch the Eastern 727's land and takeoff from the OLD St Thomas airport back in '89.  That baby used to come right over our hill that we used to plane watch.  It was unbelievably loud.  Hardly any smoke.  Midway was flying a 737-200 in there from Chicago via Miami at that same time.  That sucker was loud as hell, too.   The Pan-am Airbus 320 that served Cyril King in those days sounded like a fairly tame vacuum cleaner compared to those old girls.
