Nice work Barney!

Did you add it to the Captain Sim mods so we all get to use it? I know I would love to have it.

Well done, now that's what I was talking about in another thread.

Thanks for the thumbs up guys. I havnt added it to the CS mods yet as it still needs lots of tweeking.  Its actually so simple i surprised myself when it worked. first i made the m60 shoot straight down, changed the default fire mode to single and positioned it roughly in the bomb bay of the CS B52.

<Station name="Center" params="0,2,-1.5,0,-4.712389,0,51" />

Next i changed these lines in the <shell> section for the m60 bullets:

               <Weight>500</Weight>
               <!-- shell weight -->
               <TargetWeight>5000</TargetWeight>
               <!-- target wight correction factor -->
               <Lifetime>99</Lifetime>
               <!-- shell physical liftime -->
               <CtrLifetime>99</CtrLifetime>
               <!-- shell simobject liftime -->
               <Efficiency>1.0</Efficiency>
               <!-- shell damage efficiency             -->
               <RadiusRatio>2.0</RadiusRatio>
               <!-- See SDK -->
               <DragCoeff>0.5</DragCoeff>
               <!-- shell drag coefficient -->
               <OpArea>0.456</OpArea>
               <!-- shell net area -->

And finally i renamed some third party bomb models to the same as the M60 bullets, it will even work with default flour bombs. For some reason unknown to me i couldnt get the mk82 launcher to work but im sure one of you can.  I destroyed several parked ai aircraft during testing so it works. Feel free to improve this and submit it to CS mods, i hope someone will.
                                 Regards Barney.

Nice mode! Please share.

The mk82 launcher is INOP for now, so you did all right.

BTW, there's GBU-10 guided bomb simobject included in the pack.
No reason, just in case if someone interested to make a guided bombs mod  Wink

Hint: start with air-to-surface missile section and cut the engine  Wink

Thanks Alex,
                   i hadnt noticed the GBU in the pack. Guided bomb was going to be my next project and your suggestion about the air to surface missile is exactly what i was going to try first.  As for uploading the mod, do i include the complete xml or just the lines i have changed? (im not real sure about the copywrite info).

Thanks Barney, your the man.
Works a treat, just had to make one edit you may have done but not displayed:-

<InitSpeed>0</InitSpeed>
               <!-- shell initial velocity (meters per second) WAS 853-->

Now working on cleaning it all up and some tweaks of my own.

Hi guys,
Been working on Barney’s B52 Bombing capability and making progress. Have completed standalone weapon blocks without using the M60C and made other tweaks, I’m also starting to see portions of the HUD in VC but have no idea how I’m going to turn it into a bombsite.

Right now I’m stuck on an XML variable.  Where there are three A: variables available for the payload information but I can’t fine K: variables to reset the payload weight after dropping a cluster of bombs. Currently I’m dropping them in blocks of 10.

The variable (L:CSG_RdsRem, number) returns the number of Bombs remaining, I take off with 80 (2 x 20000 lb stations)

These are the lines I want to write into an XML routine:

(L:CSG_RdsRem, number) 500 * 2 / (&gt;K:pAYLOAD_AT_POSITION.3, pounds)
(L:CSG_RdsRem, number) 500 * 2 / (&gt;K:pAYLOAD_AT_POSITION.4, pounds)

Anyone know the correct syntax for ‘PAYLOAD_AT_POSITION’ if there is one?

I'm guessing that it could be written into all 3rd party aircraft if perfected.

Thanks

Regards Bruce

Glad to hear people are improving this mod, got the GBU-10`s working this afternoon. Man these things are deadly, still working out the optimum airspeed and alt to release at. Bruce, i did change that line but forgot to post it, hope it didnt cause too much frustration for  evryone.

CS Staff,
I believe that releasing the sdk along with this product is going to prove to be a great success; not only in implementing these features on 3rd-Party aircraft, etc.  But, it has the added benefit of educating many young people in some programming steps and configuration file(s) methods.  Who knows, you may have begun to train someone here today that would be an employee of yours someday in the near future, maybe even the next V.P./CEO, or even the next "Bill Gates" for that matter. Cool

Good Going! Smiley

PS: Mr. "Barney,"
Congradulating on your achievement! Cool I look forward to trying it out myself.

Thank you very much.&&Sincerely,&&From,&&        James F. Chams&&

I think you are spot on about that James.

My only thought is that the SDK needs to be a bit more informative. Or maybe even a little more information in the CSWeapon.xml (I think I'm showing that I am not that well versed in xml coding here). I can figure quite a bit of it out, but some of it leaves me at a loss. Of course the other side to that, is if someone can point out where I can get more information on xml coding, without having to buy a book unless I really have to.

Bruce,

You and Barney seem to be the ones progressing faster than others (including me). Were you able to develop a standalone weapon block for the Mk82, or another guided bomb? I hope you will be willing to share at some point if CS is ok....thanks.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Ragtopjohnny,

I wish I had the skills you are expecting from me...I was just responding to Bruce and Barney (Bruce's quote is above mine) and was just asking them to please share with us their advanced work Smiley. So far, I am able to launch Mk82 bombs from my planes, but not as a standalone block in the CSWeapon.xml. I am using the M60 one-shot trigger (like Barney initially suggested, thank you Barney) and have re-named my Mk82 shells as M60's bullets. Not very clean but it works. I know progress will continue to be made and I hope the smart minds out there will make this forum benefit from their knowledge.
Have some nice flights!

Been busy doing other things, so just quickly.

Standalone Weapons Pack Mk82 Bombs

Between:-

       <Action name="fovDec" control="Ctrl+Shift+0" />
       <!-- HUD FOV decrease  (2D only, AUTO in VC) -->
   </ControlsInfo>
   <WeaponInfo>

And Here:-

       <Weapon>
           <!-- weapon sub-type section. unlimited number of -->
           <Gun>M60C</Gun>
           <!-- weapon sub-type name. must match GunInfo>Gun>Name -->
           <Shell>M60C Bullet</Shell>

Paste This:-

       <Weapon>
           <Gun>Mk82_500</Gun>
           <Shell>Mk82 Bomb</Shell>
           <Unlimited>0</Unlimited>
           <Station name="Center" params="0,2,-1.5,0,-4.712389,0,80" />
           <Mode name="AUTO" shotrate="10" setshots="0" sequence="1" />
           <Mode name="X3" shotrate="10" setshots="3" sequence="1" />
           <Mode name="SINGL" shotrate="10" setshots="1" sequence="1" />
           <Mode name="SAT" shotrate="10" setshots="10" sequence="1" />
           <DefaultMode>SAT</DefaultMode>
       </Weapon>

SAT (short for Saturation) is a new mode I have created and “10” setshots sets the number of bombs you want to drop in one hit. You will see where I’ve increased Barny’s 51 Bombs to 80 giving me a full 40000 lb payload.

Now Between This:-

       <Weapon>
           <Gun>MK82</Gun>
           <Unlimited>0</Unlimited>
           <Station name="Center" params="0,0,0,0,-0.039,0,0" />
       </Weapon>
   </WeaponInfo>
   <GunInfo>
       <!-- aircraft independent weapon settings -->

And This:-

       <Gun>
           <!-- weapon sub-type . unlimited number of -->
           <Type>MachineGun</Type>
           <!--sub-type class. USE ONLY: MachineGun, RocketLauncher, MissileLauncher, BombLauncher -->
           <Name>M60C</Name>
           <!--weapon sub-type name. must match name in WeaponInfo section -->
           <Desc>7.62mm Machine Gun</Desc>

Paste This:-

       <Gun>
           <Type>MachineGun</Type>
           <Name>Mk82_500</Name>
           <Desc>500 Pound Bomb</Desc>
           <HudString>BOMB</HudString>
           <Pix />
           <ConeAngle>0.0005</ConeAngle>
           <TargetRange>10000</TargetRange>
           <Delay>0.0</Delay>
           <FxFire />
           <Sound name="..\..\..\Captain_Sim\Weapon\Sound\csweapon_rocket3.wav" gain="0.5" />
           <Shell>
               <Name>Mk82 Bomb</Name>
               <Desc>500 Pound Bomb</Desc>
               <HudString>Mk82</HudString>
               <Pix />
               <Container>Mk82_500lb</Container>
               <FxWake />
               <Weight>500</Weight>
               <TargetWeight>5000</TargetWeight>
               <Lifetime>99</Lifetime>
               <CtrLifetime>99</CtrLifetime>
               <Efficiency>1.0</Efficiency>
               <RadiusRatio>2.0</RadiusRatio>
               <DragCoeff>0.5</DragCoeff>
               <OpArea>0.456</OpArea>
               <GravCoeff>1.0</GravCoeff>
               <InitSpeed>0</InitSpeed>
               <EngThrust>0</EngThrust>
               <ThrustDuration>0</ThrustDuration>
           </Shell>
       </Gun>

Falling bombs make a whooshing sound. I had to leave it as a machine gun as Bomb Launcher did not work. Will sort that later.

YOU MUST make the Bomb folder name and SIM.CFG name in your Misc Directory either Mk82_500lb or change <Container>Mk82_500lb</Container> to whatever yours is called.

Good luck, remember to back up prior to doing this.

EDIT: Oh BTW restore your M60C back to original.

Regards Bruce

OK Guys, I have just spent the last few weeks brutalising some of CS’s work and come up with a Bombing aide for the B52. As I cannot activate the ‘BombLauncher’ option I’ve done away with the ‘Gun’ function and guns in the CSWeapons.xml file and now use it’s variable to trigger Bomb Release. Other limitations and access to code has forced me to make other compromises as well.

But, for the most part it works: One must get some accurate data on their target eg. co-ordinates and altitude, Google Earth will not work you have to send in a small spy plane first. And you need good reflexes especially at altitude and high airspeed.

Extensive strapping tables allows one to drop conventional bombs from 400 to 29000 feet at 160 to 360 knots and nukes from 30000 to 40000 feet up to Mach 0.85.

Missile and Rocket functions unchanged.

When ‘Bomb’ is selected the display changes to look like this and is default. As you are approaching the target waypoint the display is yellow up to 2 to 3 Nm out where it turns red and more accurate computed release data is activated. The Yellow and Red windows on the far right are also used

In this screen shot the target altitude has not been entered so the altitude data is derived when the release display turns red, no worries over flat terrain but a real problem at altitude where the bomb may ‘glide’ up to 5 Nm over hill and dale.

In this case the 1st bomb was to have hit the start of the Runway, missed by about 10 feet to the left but we managed to lay 20 bombs down the runway from 7000 ft at 300 knots.

Different airport where the target start point is the intersection of the two runways. I missed to the right edge (slight error in co-ordinates) but the latitude was OK. 16000 feet at 300 knots

Nuk detonation from 31000 feet at 310 Knots. Trigger finger not good enough and hit the intersecting taxi ways, close enough I guess.

Nuk detonation from 37000 feet at Mach 0.85. Trigger finger a little too itchy but once again good enough.

Now although this package is nearly finished (as far as I can go now) I will not release it until someone from CS contacts me (by email) I need to discuss some legal issues with them first re the way I have rewritten one of their files and relocated them.

PS. Sorry if I have offended anyone by bombing their territory, purely random selections.

Regards Bruce

OMG. That looks awesome! I especially love the nukes.
Even though you missed the "X", you would have killed everyone at the airport anyway! Grin

Bruce,

It looks great. I would love to see that installed on my B1-B Bomber Smiley
You are right to inquire about the legal stuff though.
Thanks for showing this work...before sharing if you can Smiley

That DOES look awesome.  Will have to try the modifications.  I don't want to ruin anything again, so I'll have to make sure I make a back up of the .cfg file.

Thanks Bruce for your efforts, and Johan, no worries -- thought you were doing alot for them as well -- and I HOPE that this is not considered an OFF TOPIC reply for all other words of thanks are allowed here!!!!

i admire the expertise, but, having actually lived for several years with the thought of nuc delivery makes the simulation less attractive. additionally, the actual mission was not realisticly regarded as survivable due to defensive technology. sorry to be wet blanket but a real simulation factors in effects to both bombers and bombees. best  part of it all is that is was 4 decades ago and we seem to be past that now, at least for those of us who lived it. the sim is more fun than it was thinking about it in reality.

John

The installation is designed around a single B52 in it's own folder and will have no effect on your current CS_B52 folder. Most everything (textures, sound, panel etc.) is aliased back to the master installation but it has it's own aircraft.cfg

Anyway, CS seems to be more concerned about 'Off Topic' posts rather than this and have not contacted me so I have to assume they will be OK with me releasing the package, probably early next week. I'm not going to raise a ticket as it's not a support issue.

@oliveone:- I can understand where your coming and don't actually do much simming myself. Most of my time is spent rehashing/enhancing other peoples work. @barny came up with an idea and I'm just running with it. But in saying that this whole CSWeapons thing is getting boring.

Sorry for the delay, Barney and I had some initial communication problems so we lost a week and now I'm in transit to QLD on holiday and my 2nd FSX PC located there.

Thus far we have found and fixed a few minor problems and I expect to release next week. I need to test it with the new sound patch as that was one area of concern.

Barney and I have decided it’s time to post the Bomb Release aid for the B25.

There is a sound issue (what a surprise) so I have not included that effect during the bomb drop and will give it a good dose of looking at on my return home to Thailand, neither of us have had the opportunity to test the package with the new sound patch!

To quote Barney:-
Quote:
All I would recommend is that you stress the impotence of reading the instructions in their entirety.

Be warned! Especially the paragraph relating to the adding of your own aircraft texture.

Here is the link to the zipped file:-

Have fun.

By the way, Bruce, I was the one asking for a B1-B Lancer adaptation of your device, but it is a payware from Virtavia, so if you don't have it, don't bother. The bomb bay opens on that model, it is a very good plane.
Thanks,

Johan

With the nuke effects, it works initially, then it goes into a black square and stays. Any help? Sad

Does the Mk82-500 lb bomb effects work OK eg an orange - red explosion followed by a tower of smoke which hangs around for a couple of minutes?

After the initial bright yellow blast the nuke smoke (dark grey) slowly spreads over a couple of Nm with a sort of a mushroom thingy in the middle. It really needs a makeover to give the effect some sort of realism. Try replacing your fx_Nukem.fx file in the effects folder.

Bruce,

The Mk82-500 lb bomb effects work OK. For the nuke effect, I have the same problem than Pete. It starts well and then become a huge black square with none of the smoke effects you are mentioning...

I had the same problem you are mentioning with the nuke effect (prior to installing the bomb comp), to fix it i downloaded a freeware TU-95 from norcal prop club and used the nuke effect from that. This changed the solid black square into a smokey black square.

Great work and Kudos for all of your efforts.

I do not want to be "that guy" but I would really like to be able drop flares as I am flying over the OBJ. Can this be incorporated into this awwsome mod?

WOW.... Angry Angry Angry Angry

I'm the author of the Nukem effect, and can't believe that I am seeing someone here using it in another package without my permission.  As well, this site for allowing it.

Please remove any links to the bomb addon.  Simviation is also getting another notice to delete the TU-95 file.

Thanks,

Ardie / RD

Don’t know if you’re the author of my copy (which works well and used in my screenshots) but it appears to be a freeby:-   nuke-1.zip     from Flightsim.com with this info file attached:

Origianal Model by V.Zhyhulskiy
Updated and Packaged by Greg Schneider

No mention of copyright. It uses 4 fx files one is named thus “fx_Nukem.fx” coincidence?????

Searched most popular sim sites high and low, can't find anything that could be your "Nukem" work.

You obviously didn't look too hard.  My original effect is NUKEM.V1, available from SurClaro.com, as originally uploaded in 2006.  Looking at the one in your info, is exactly what I uploaded.  So yes, this is my work used by another freeloader using other peoples stuff.

As to the Capt. Sim person that sent me a PM, I would like to reply to it, but I don't have 10 posts.  And more than likely, won't.  But thanks for the FSX Weapons offer.  However, I already purchased it, and it is awesome.

Well you should be going after Mr V.Zhyhulskiy and Greg Schneider. I/we (CS Forum members) can only go by their claims. Anyway, IMHO I think you need really to get a life. Many of us here have created all sorts on addons, liveries etc. and made them freely available to others without DEMANDING recognition.

A special mention to Pete for all the work he has done on his missiles, well done.

@Ardie: First of all thanks for making the nuke effect. But in the last Days i search the nuke effect -witch i found  Tongue - and read in serval Videos and div. Forums your Postings about "they stole my stuff" "im the autor of this", "i make it payware now", "i make V2 for free" etc.

Now i read this here... . What do you think should be another company or all the other Devloper say when their found her stuff on Pirate Downloading?

My B-52 drops Bombs also now but i use the freeware Weapons for FSX but i download this pack here and hope i can test it the next day. -Thanks for the hard work -for free

Edit: uhh i thougt i read 2012 in the last post.. but better too late as never...  Roll Eyes

Edit II : for last i read this on Youtube: If you dumbasses contact me, the "AUTHOR-MAKER" of it, then you would have it working.

Ardie / RD

So for people who came over google search, contact me for the link for NukeIt
