Very Pleased with CS727

I purchased the CS 727-100 and both expansion packages during the big sale.  It took a little while to get the quirks worked out, but this was made easier with the good support options on this site and the very helpful forum members.  Thanks.

I am REALLY enjoying this product.  It is the first payware plane I have tried, and I am impressed.  At first I thought a lot of the animations and eye candy were sort of frivolous, and to some extent I suppose they are, but I really enjoy them.

The thing flies like a dream, I practiced short flights over and over and over till I got really proficient at takeoff, climb, short cruise, descent, and land.  Now I am flying the thing all over Europe.  Too fun.

My only complaint is that you have made it impossible to go back to the default aircraft that come with FSX.   I have a couple of really good freeware addon planes that are as fun as the 727, but the defaults are just awful once you've flown this baby.

I have many addon aircraft that I have purchased over the last 3 or 4 years. They include Ultralights, General Aviation aircraft, Airliners, Military and Helicopters. I rarely fly default aircraft (Aircreation Trike  mostly) purely because they look second rate to what I have (including some exceptional freeware aircraft). Because of this, I find myself buying new aircraft often. I have a hard choice when selecting an aircraft to fly, but I find myself flying Captain Sim addon aircraft about 90% of the time (when flying the heavies) because I think they make the best.

It can get too be an expensive hobby. It certainly is for me. Wink

Dave,

As usual, Mark is right on!

I too have many ad-on planes and find the stock planes too bland. I have a hard time deciding between the CS 727 and the CS 707 when it comes to which one is more fun to fly. The level of detail is great and except for a few gremlins, both fly like the real thing.

In real life the 727 was a bit of a hot rod because of the large sweep of the wings and higher wing loading and nothing was more of a chore to land in a stiff cross wind. But I guess for me the 707 was a lot of fun because of the ocean crossings and having to navigate with those old methods of Loran-C and Doppler. It was just more work which made the trip seem to go faster. The later navigation systems like INS, IRS and GPS sort of took the "guess work" out of flying.  Grin

So even though I have other CS planes, I find myself going back to the old 707 & 727 when I want to enjoy the old days.

Even though I never got to fly the Lockheed Connie, I was in hope CS would give that model a try, because that would have been a real challenge to fly well.

Me too. The 707 and the 727 are the BEST, ever addons produced for FS. I dont own the others but many years ago I downloaded a demo I think of the 757, and frankly I was disapointed...

Not disapointed with captainsim, dont get me wrong, disappointed with the 757...and the new 767 is just the same. FPS didnt help either. That Boeing generation, brownish color panel with some modern instruments, they dont have the glamour and cockpit feeling as 707-727.

Im not a miliary fan but judging by the pictures the B52 doesnt seem much appealing either. The cockpit has a more drawn cartoonish apearance, possibly due to the fact that developpers didnt have real access to a B52 to take hD pics of all areas.

I just hope the new 737 will have the same quality standard as the 707 with some improvements Smiley. K

Hi Kapitan.

Honestly, the B-52 VC is NOT cartoonish at all. It has Captain Sim's usual high standard and realistic look. The B-52 Driver VC looks real inside and makes me feel like I am in a real B-52.

Hi Mark,
Yes, I went and saw the video and it is reallistic, I based my presumption on that night picture on the main CS page, Why did they chose that pic?, it doesnt look nice, ...the cockpit shoewd in the addon video is far better Smiley
